Nicheless Light Algae?

I have 3 small lights in my pool all of which have some crud and I believe some algae (reference attached pic). Is it ok to remove the niches without draining the pool so I can clean or will this cause other issues?

25,000 gallon vinyl pool. We just moved in recently so I’m not sure on the light models, but have attached a pic

I played around with the lights and was able to get them removed. Quite a bit of algae came out of each one. Cleaned each one and placed back on. Slamming the pool tonight and keeping fingers crossed we pass the OCLT test tomorrow
