Need some help getting my pool going for the 3rd summer.

I would agree with Woodstock, a healthy water exchange may be prudent. Are you sure there is no solid debris on the floor of the pool?
Not at all certain. I keep vacuuming it as often as possible, and brushing it every day, but can't exactly see what I'm doing. I'm not seeing too many leaves anymore. Haven't since last week. But just not sure.

Okay so I switched out to my old cartridge filter. I think it’s making a difference. My question is, the debris I'm washing off is brownish. Previously when I’ve had algae issues it’s been more green. Is this possibly mustard algae? Or just that it’s good and dead? I’m hoping for the latter.

Also any ideas on if the sand filter will work alright once I get the algae out? Or is there possibly something wrong with it. I’ve actually found an above ground DE filter from Hayward that isn’t much more. I’m tempted to return this one (if I still can) and getting it. Even if I can’t I might try and sell the one I have locally.

Or is it possibly just the timing? Maybe the sand filter would be doing the same by now. Idk. Just trying to figure out which way to go. I want a good filtration system.

Had anyone ever done a double filter system? Has anyone ever ran a sand filter into a cartridge/de filter? Let the sand catch the big stuff and the cartridge/de filter catch the small stuff? Just thinking out loud.

Thanks. And these pics were after about 24 hours with the cartridge filter

Well the cartridge filter seems to be working better. Here’s the pool this am. I still can’t quite see the bottom. But using the broom as a gauge I can see down to the last foot or so.
