Hello! I wonder if anyone can help. I am about to replace filter sand with filter balls as approved by the filter manufacturer. I am assuming that the need for this, which hasn't been done for at least five years, has contributed to low filter pressure which seems to affect the vacuum system - it just doesn't work at the moment. The pool doesn't seem to be leaking, apart from the pump gasket which I will replace, so why does the vacuum point not work?! When the waste and skimmer valves are closed and the vacuum point open, the jets start to bubble to expel air, the source of which is a mystery. The pool has a four valve system: waste, vacuum, two skimmers. Finding an available pool professional in these parts is difficult to say the least so I am currently having to fend for myself! Any advice would be most welcome, so thank you very much in advance!

I suggest you read through Sand Filter Use and Care - Further Reading
Properly sized sand is the proper media for a sand filter. Do not use an alternative media.
