Lottle Giant only works when i push down on it.

Thanks in advance for anyone's who has an answer.
My problem is the cover fills with water but the pump doesn't activate unless I push down on it. Does anyone have a tip on how to fix this problem?

The float switch requires a specific amount of water, so it is normal to not come on until the water gets to be a few inches deep.

Is the pump running and not pumping or not running until you push it down?
