there are two outtake holes already in my intex pool. can i cut my square over it so i don't have that lingering hole?

By squire you are referring to a skimmer correct? If the hole is in the ideal place for a skimmer opening, sure. Or you could take advantage of that hole to make an addition water return jet or a fountain.
