Intelliflo3 pump shaft seal

I am purchasing an Intelliflo3 VSF pump model #011078, and I am wondering what type of quality is the shaft seal that comes with the pump? I know a quality shaft seal is very important for the longevity of a pump, so I am wondering if I need to upgrade the shaft seal upon receiving it? I would put the shaft seal PS-201V-CMS in the pump if I need to upgrade it, or does the pump already come with a high quality seal?

3,

For what it is worth.

I have three older IntelliFlo pumps that have been running 24/7, mostly at 1200 RPM for about 10 years..

They all have the original shaft seal that come with the pump from the factory. None of them leak a drop of water.

I personally do not see the need to open up a brand new pump to replace the original seal, but it would make sense to use the better seal if, and when, it ever started to leak.

Thanks,

Jim R.

It looks like it comes with a 356210S seal, which should be the Ozone/Salt upgraded seal.

The PS3867 should be equivalent.

The only better seal would be a PS-1901, which is the silicon Carbide version.

1,200 revolutions per minute

72,000 revolutions per hour.

1,728,000 revolutions per day.

631,152,000 revolutions per year.

6,311,520,000 revolutions in ten years.

If that was a car wheel, you would have to drive about 10.32 million miles to make the wheel make that many revolutions.

I was feeling the same way. Really was hoping it came with a good quality seal especially with how much the pump cost, and I don't want to be opening up a brand new pump. Thanks for the information!
