Hello,
Aside from tightening the neck screws, what are next steps for solving the problem of water bursting out the base of the neck of my Hayward sand filter? n

What is the model number of your MPV?

I think there should be an O ring it sits on to seal it. I would check the O ring and seal and not simply try and tighten screws.

Let's ask @1poolman1

Are those easy to replace ha? i've never had a reason to open that bad boy up
If the actual tank is leaking at that lower arrow, it is new filter time. If at the clamp, a new O ring can be installed. Problem is that all the plumbing will have to be cut to get the valve off the tank.
Also, the fittings that are threaded into the MPV are in too far, and that tablet feeder is, likely, damaging the spider gasket and the spring that holds the valve-diverter tightly in place so that it seals each port.
