We had a new heater installed on indoor pool in December of ‘22. Recently had a “sensor failure”. The pool runs 24/7. Is it common for a sensor to fail after 18 months?

Make and Model of heater.

Which sensor?

There are a lot of quality control problems with sensors lately, so it is not really common or uncommon.

File a warranty claim.
Raypak B-R206A. Not sure which sensor. For now the issue seems to have resolved. Will post again if necessary. Looks like there is a 2 year warranty on parts and labor, so we will pursue that if needed.
Thanks.

You have a temperature sensor that takes two measurements and the error means that the two readings are off by more than 2 degrees F.

Ask Raypak to send you a new sensor under warranty so that you have one if you need it.

It is easy to replace.

Digital Models: Remove the thermostat temperature sensor by loosening the compression fitting nut.

Digital Models: Insert the temperature sensor into the compression fitting, so that the sensor is flush with the top of the fitting.

Tighten 1/2 turn past hand-tight.
