Hayward aqua plus 16v chlorinator off test salt level

Hayward should have the information about the original cell that went with the system.

If the cell was replaced, maybe the old owners took the new cell with them or maybe it's in the garage or shed somewhere?

Sometimes people remove the cell for winter and sometimes the old cell is used as a bypass.

Maybe the old cell was installed by mistake?

The owners, incorrectly, told me the cell was three years old. It is seven years old, as you said. I have an additional issue. The knob on the front of the pool heater just turns continuously left or right. The heater will not turn on. Is this a thermostat issue? Thank you, again.

Do you have a model number and manufacturing date?

Most likely, the knob will pull off and then you can open the control panel and see what's going on with the thermostat and get a part number from the thermostat.

The knob should hit a stop at full rotation clockwise or counterclockwise.

If it is spinning, the thermostat is probably bad.

OLDER THAN 04B169 = All Analog units have mechanical Thermostat and no digital pocket so digital upgrade requires an external Upgrade Kit - (see below) with additional wiring and based on age of 10 years plus and service life remaining we recommend replacement with new unit for digital and wireless upgrade.

TimerStats are no longer available and TimerStat Plus is not compatible.

Mechanical Thermostats as well as time delays are available - see PARTS/KITS service parts part number 5E310 (thermostat) and part number 2U208 (Time Delay replacement kit).

04B169 and HIGHER = Gray Cabinet with Digital Pocket can UPGRADE to DIGITAL or TIMERSTAT PLUS .

UP TO 10E060 = ALL ANALOG UNITS are Equipped with Mechanical Thermostat & time delay and can upgrade to either TimerStat Plus or DIGITAL

10E061 to 14B041 = ALL ANALOG UNITS are Equipped with TimerStat instead of mechanical Thermostat and can easily upgrade to DIGITAL.

TimerStats are no longer available and must be replaced with EITHER a retrograde back to a mechanical thermostat and time delay OR a TimerStat Plus which is compatible but requires additional 24 volt control box wiring harness.

We recommend DIGITAL upgrade if Timerstat needs replaced.

14B041 to 18H001 = ALL ANALOG UNITS Equipped with TIMERSTAT PLUS are simple to UPGRADE TO DIGITAL with no additional wire harness, just removal of two jumper wires and reconnection of wires in the control box.

18H001 and higher = ALL ANALOG UNUTS Equipped with the NEW TIMERSTAT PRO with STATUS LED service light (see troubleshooting for LED CODES) A red green orange LED blinks to designate the units status.
Analog Heat Siphon

How do you know if your Heat Siphon is an ANALOG MODEL?

Suppose you just bought a house and it has a pool and you see this Heat Siphon which you would like support on but don't know what type or model it is?
ANALOG KNOB
First look at the front - if your Heat Siphon has a KNOB instead of a digital display - it's ANALOG.

Look at the nameplate for the model number and if it DOES NOT START WITH A "D" then it's ANALOG.

Newer ANALOG models like the one pictured to the left look a lot like the Digital models.

They have the same gray cabinet and the doors are the same, with a blank door in the upper left covering the digital control pocket, and just below that door a larger door with a knob in the lower right corner.

Older analog models may have an almond color PVC cabinet instead of the new Titanium Gray.

They will still have the knob in the same place on the lower right corner of the control box door, but they will not have the smaller door on the upper left as they have no digital pocket.

On all ANALOG models the control circuit is wired in series, like a christmas tree's lights from one to the next - ALL control switches must be closed to turn it on like all bulbs must be good to light the tree.

If any control is "open" or faulty it will prevent your Heat siphon from starting.

Troubleshooting merely involves jumping out each control until the Heat Siphon starts to find the faulty control or the condition preventing operation.

Does the knob have a set screw or does it just push on/pull off?

The Timerstat appears to have a control board behind the panel.

So, you would have to remove all screws and then carefully pull out the cover a few inches so that you can disconnect the plug.

How old is the heater?

When was the pool installed?

The heater looks really old, which is odd because the old owner says that it was installed just this year. LOL. :laughblue: :laughblue::laughblue:

It's probably not worth putting in a lot of money into this heater.

If it's just an analog thermostat, then that should not be too expensive, but there might be other problems.

Supposedly, it was new in 2017

I would have zero confidence in anything they say unless you can independently verify it.

Did they leave you any paperwork for anything?

Do you have a service call scheduled for the heat pump?

Can you find the serial number for the heat pump?

Contact the manufacturer with the serial number to see when the heat pump was manufactured.

Are you getting a new salt cell?

Did you check the actual salinity?

Can you show the pool and the whole system?
