Gallons per inch

Another way to look at it is 18' round and 3' deep is 3.014*(18/2)^2*3 cubic feet or 463 ft^3 as the volume of a cylinder is pi*r^2*h. 1 cubic foot is 7.48 gallons. 463*7.48=5707

All those numbers and I still don't see the answer to his question.

I just need to know how many gallons per inch of water in a 18ft above ground pool so I can estimate for my water bill adjustment with the utility company people.
Multiply Width in feet by Length in feet.
Multiply that by 144
Divide by 231

E.g.

18x36 = 648 square feet
648 x 144 = 93312 cubic inches (one inch deep)
93312 / 231 = 403.9 US gallons

If the pool is round

Radius x radius x 144 x 3.14
Divide by 231 = US gallons

E.g ( 18ft diameter = 9ft radius)

9 x 9 x 144 x 3.14 / 231 = 158 US gallons
