The Pleatco cartridges are much better than the Pentair OEM filters. Clean up easier, clog less, last longer, flow better. All around better and the pool stays just as clean. No downside with the Pleatcos. I have 2 sets for quick changes.
It is difficult to tell if water is flowing through a bottom drain. I haven't noticed if my pressure drops but it makes sense that the depth of the bottom drain would have more pressure pushing the water into the pump which could reduce pressure a little.
