Betta SE Plus

Check out my thread on the Aiper Scuba S1. Really starting to enjoy it.
Oh - I have been reading it a lot. I think I give another couple of months but keep updating the thread with any data.
Thanks for your contributions!!

Got the SE Plus and it was hung up in skimmer current within 5 minutes. Not enough power to pull away from it and I’m only running the pump on a medium speed. Don’t want to turn down the pump or put barriers around the skimmers because they do a fantastic job. Was hoping to just help them out with the Betta. Bye bye Betta.

I just took a piece of 1" foam I had laying around, cut it to make a divider that sticks out a little. It seems to steer away from it. Or you can turn skimmer flow down a little if your skimmers have a separate valve. You barely need them if you run Betta 24/7.

Tcat, I did redirect almost all of my pool suction to the floor drains rather than the skimmer since the skimmer is basically not needed anymore. A couple of advantages to having the Betta SE is that:
  1. I barely ever have to clean out the skimmer any more
  2. I do not have to worry about over taxing the pump anymore trying to suck debris through the skimmer during leaf, flower, pine needle, or any other debris season
  3. When I go on vacation, I can turn the skimmer completely off and not have to worry about the pool getting too low on water for the skimmer or something clogging up the skimmer causing the pump to overheat.
My Betta SE has found a permanent home in my pool.

On a side note: I just realized that before I bought the Betta SE, my pool suction was set-up entirely opposite. I barely had any suction on the floor drains and all directed to the skimmer, and I always worried on a couple week vacations that the skimmer would get clogged and the pump would overheat. Betta SE is worth every penny of non-stress.

DB how shallow is your splash pad? Mine is around 8" deep and I'd hate for it not to be able to get that area (8' x 20').
It depends on my water level. Mine is definitely not 8" deep unless maybe my pool is totally full. You'll be fine!

I just emailed with Betta. It was $30 cheaper on Amazon. They said I could still buy the Betta warranty even though my purchase was on Amazon. I’ll give it a go!
Just ordered the Betta SE- Plus from Amazon on Tues night and am sitting on my front porch annxiously awaiting the delivery truck. Betta said I could buy the warranty from them regardless of where I bought it so I went with Amazon since the return policy is sooo much easier. And it was the same price from both.
Can’t wait to use it in conjunction with my Aiper Scuba S-1 which I’ve used every other day since I got it and am pleased with its performance in the floor only mode. Only did the walls once and it got about 70% coverage so it’s time to try it again to see how it does. Pereonslly, since it’s getting 98% or more of the floor, I’m happy since that’s where all the dirt is anyway, so I won’t be sending it back. I’m expecting to be even happier with the Betta since my dogwood is dropping all the flowers in my pool today. Fingers crossed.

Great.
I just ordered the Aiper Scuba 1 (standard) so will have the same set up as you. I also ordered the Betta SE Plus on Amazon and purchased the warranty directly from betta.
The Aiper has a 2 yr warranty with it so see if it makes it.

I also just bought the SE Plus on the Amazon Lightning deal for $359 (6/7/24) and bought the extended warranty from Betta's website today for $59.99

My pool gets full sun pretty much all day. I put it to work yesterday (6/10) when it arrived and so far it has been scooping up the flying ants and other surface debris as I was hoping for!

I have pine trees about 15 - 20 yards from the pool that will drop straw when wind blows decent and Japanese maples and oak which drop leaves in the fall. If this keeps me ahead of sinking leaves it will be so much worth it. I only have one skimmer and so far the SE Plus has no issues with going near it. I have my pump pull equally from drain and solo skimmer.

I checked on it last night around 10pm and it was still hard at work. Saw the little green light just motoring around.

Anyone have experience if SE plus works with baja shelf?

edit: it's working fine over the shelf, water depth is more than 3.5" so all good.
Mine works fine over my shelf. There's a little step down to it where it has gotten hung up but Betta sent me a longer set of anti-stranding legs which has taken care of that.

Has anyone looked into the "used" option for the SE Plus on their website? Seems like a good deal if you're already planning to get the extended warranty from Betta.

I asked Betta's Support about the used units and here is what they had to say:

Used unit that you can purchase through the website are from our customers who return the unit within they're 30 days warranty period.

Theses units are 100% working and passed through our quality assurance team.

It also comes with a standard warranty of 1 year, like the new ones.

You can also purchase the extended warranty for the used unit.

With some time I’ve noticed that no matter which set of legs I use, and at what position, unless the water level is at the top of the skimmer door it gets stuck on something - the Baja shelf, the step to the shelf, or one of the 3 corner steps. I ordered an aftermarket set of legs which is a little longer. We’ll see. If I can’t leave it without it getting stuck it will go back.
