Aqualink protection

Hey guys I am finally installing a Onebutton keypad in my home. I am the 4th owner of this home and the second owner put in a pool. Everything was wireless and we gutted the place and I ran wire and pipe to get to the control box. I replaced the control panel in the aqualink box and I want to interconnect the keypad to the system. Coming from SWFL capital of lightning I've dealt with optocouplers for a few expensive and hard-to-replace devices that deal with transient surges. I was wondering if a rs485 optocoupler would work with the Jandy rs485 loop?

Weird I don't think any of those reference a optocoupler which is concerning. Not sure if its worth getting one and testing.
