That is a bigger pump than you need, unless you have high flow rate requirements.
A 1HP 2 speed Superflo is a better fit assuming you have 230v power available.

No, just wanted to make sure it's fine. I would like something that's more energy efficient as I'm sure they're out there.
If you have the typical high California electricity rates your best choice is likely to be one of the smaller variable speed pumps, like the Hayward MaxFlo VS or something similar. This is assuming you don't have a spa, large water feature, or automation system, any one of which would steer things in a different direction.
