Incorrect to advertise non-self-priming pump as "In Ground"?

Hello and thanks in advance for your help.

I recently posted about a 2-speed pump but it turns out it is not self-priming and therefore I cannot use it for my in-ground pool and I'm now in the process of cancelled the order and getting a refund.

I sent an email to the seller about getting a full refund and that I not be charged for any shipping cost because if this pump was advertised simply as "In Ground" and nothing in the ad stated it was not self-priming, then that is incorrect advertising given that, as I understand it, what makes a pump suitable for in-ground pools in the first place is that it is self-priming.

Am I correct in this argument?

Also, I will be purchasing this pump instead: Hayward 1 HP MAX-FLO XL SP2307X10

Is that pump a good choice for a 15,000 gallon pool with a Hayward Navigator automatic cleaner?

Does the automatic cleaner mean I would be better off with a 1.5 HP instead?

Thanks again guys for all your help.

Re: Incorrect to advertise non-self-priming pump as "In Grou

Not taking away from the need to get a different pump, but no centrifugal pump is truly self priming. They all have to have water in them in order to prime. Can you tell us which pump you're returning?

The pump you list should be fine for your pool.

It would help if you'd put your pool and equipment info in your sig. Also a general location would be nice.

Re: Incorrect to advertise non-self-priming pump as "In Grou

Thank you. All info is in my sig now.

The pump I'm cancelling is this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171092524526

And the one I am considering getting is either this 1 HP Hayward Max-Flo XL: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200949225156

Or this 1.5 HP Hayward Max-Flo XL: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200948572003

Or this Pentair SuperFlo 1.5 HP (same one I had before that lasted only 2 years): http://www.ebay.com/itm/171096064314

What is the difference between the Hayward MAX-FLO XL and the Hayward Super Pump which the Pentair SuperFlo is supposedly a clone of?

Am I better off with a 1 HP than a 1.5 HP even though I use an automatic cleaner?

Thanks.
