I would. Otherwise it will overflow and oversaturate the ground beneath the pool, which vcan cause the sidewalls to sink in and throw the pool out of level.
Stick a garden hose or the vacuum hose in the pool, feed it in slowly so it fills, cap it with your hand somehow, then haul it out fast and get it below the water level in the pool. That will start the siphon. Haul a lot more hose out fast to really get it going, then direct the flow somewhere away from the pool.
