    Closing A Post

How or do I close a post once I'm satisfied I've received an answer?

You don't. It just lives on forever.

If you're satisfied that you've received all the answer that you need, you can post in the topic letting everyone know and it will soon drop off the front page, until someone comes along 2 or 3 years later and reanswers your question! But that's how it works.

Additionally, it is good courtesy to provide the outcome, or lack thereof, of your particular question. What caused the stains?
