I recently wired up a VSF to an Elfin EW-11a and I can establish a connection through Nixie/nodejs-poolcontroller, but I dont see any received packets and all of my transmits are failing, yet the Elfin shows them as received.... I'm perplexed.

Are you sure you don't have the data lines swapped (A+, B-)?

I figured that'd be the first question... The yellow cable is connected to A+, but I also tried swapping the cables and there was no difference.Are you sure you don't have the data lines swapped (A+, B-)?

Should my pump's display panel show "Display Not Active" when it's functioning properly? I've never been able to get it into that mode. Also, I shouldn't need Relay Equipment Manager (REM) in my nodejs-poolController stack since it's a tcp connection to the RS485 right?

I have had a lot of experience with the EW11 but on Hayward equipment and not so much on Pentair. Maybe @rstrouse or @tagyoureit can help if they are still around.

Well, I feel like an idiot. 
The rs485 connector inside the control panel area of the pump was loose. Reseated it, and it's working like a charm!
