Florida pool pops out after heavy rain

It's unclear whether the pool was full of water when this happened, or if, as seen in the pictures, it was empty.

My money is on "empty". Without the weight and pressure of the water I could see this happening. In fact, I think it is one of the reasons you aren't supposed to leave your pool empty.

Sorry guys, I've been a pool guy forever and back in the early 90's here in SoCal heavy rains caused several pools to pop out of the ground. One of them I serviced. It was full of water Just shows the power of water!

This one looks like it was low or empty judging from the crud on the walls...

And I have doubts that Homeowners Insurance covers that.

    what a shame too.

Now, if a pool company was doing the work, they'd be responsible...right?? But they'd also have probably drilled some well points or drain holes I guess.
I'd love to hear from the homeowners as to how long it had been left empty and what the circumstances were

In California, we would usually have the customer sign a waiver in case their pool popped. It probably wouldn't hold up in court but, you know "that's pool biz".
