    Highly confused....

Test seems accurate in my smaller test tubes for both the OTO chlorine and the PH test. I will still order the proper chemicals for my kit form here so I don't have to keep multiple test tubes

    Totally lost in testing

backwashing is not bad! backwashing is a normal process of a sand filter. Once the pressure increases the filter is less efficient and a backwash followed by a rinse is required to return it to operational standards. How often you backwash will be based on the amount of crud the filter is getting...

    pH yo-yo

every year I fight the PH for the first half of the season upon opening my pool. This is due to high TA in fill water. Once the TA is brought down to a level your pool likes the PH will balance out and you will use very little MA( I find the exact number doesn't really matter it's just where...

    Totally lost in testing

It's more precise and sticks to the chemistry of the pool better adding single chems based on levels. The results of sticking to the TFP method is a crystal clear pool that everyone will envy, and in my experience the clearest water I've ever seen with absolutely zero chlorine smell or...

    Totally lost in testing

yeah full sunlight you will fight loss due to sun more than loss due to chlorine doing it's job during a SLAM.us pool math calculator to tell you how much CYA to add or use the charts on the back of the stabilizer bottle. wait 3 days I believe between adding cya and testing because it is way...

    I'm screwed? 300 CYA

well the amount your able to drain at one time on an in ground pool is based off of ground water levels. If you drain to much with a high ground water level you will "float" the pool and destroy it. Partial drains you will never get the same effect as draining 90% at one time. You will have to...

    Totally lost in testing

If the dot never disappears then there is no CYA present. Finish clearing the pool with a SLAM before adding CYA. stabilized chlorine requires higher levels for SLAM so you will use less chlorine to maintain proper levels. Unless the pool is never shaded than add CYA because you will lose too...

Pool is gobbling chlorine tabs but I have no free chlorine

SLAM is not complete until water is crystal clear, and it passes the overnight chlorine loss test. From sundown to sun up you should lose no chlorine, and have no CC. Also it will take much longer to SLAM and waste countless gallons of chlorine killing the sludge on the bottom of your pool if...

    Test kit K2006 ....not happy

My k-2006(not sure if its "C" or not) lasted me two seasons before ordering a TF-100 refill kit to refill everything for this season. I tested cya twice the first season, once after adding CYA and a second time after adding more to get to the desired level. Second season was once upon opening...

My pool has a VERY low PH of 3.75!

find a way to order a good test kit, without it you can not use TFP method to maintain pool. otherwise yeah dump soda ash and chlorine until you get desired results. PH will not balance and stabilize until you've adjusted it enough to bring the TA into proper range. Chlorine wont stabilize...

    Highly confused....

yeah I ran into the concentration problem this afternoon when testing. the red for PH is definitely inaccurate in the k-2006 sized test tube. but I have a regular smaller tube to see if its accurate with that one. I also tried to use the basic chlorine test. It showed high color was way yellow...

    Highly confused....

I'm assuming thats the same thing as the chlorine and is basic reagent. basically the same as r-004 - - - Updated - - - I know I should have just ordered the proper refill kit but my understanding was the tf-100 was a supersized version of the k-2006.

    Highly confused....

ok, so thats the basic chlorine test not the dpd test reagent, that will be useful and I can use it with a cheap test tube for my SLAM. Also they have none of the same PH reagents only r-0014 and my kit came with r-0004-6

    Highly confused....

DPD powder also seems alot chunkier than orginal taylor kit which was small granules

    Highly confused....

ok so I ordered a TF-100 refill kit to use to refill my taylor k-2006 kit. My kit does not have a R-0600 reagent, but the refill kit does. The refill kit does not have r-0003 leading me to believe these are the same thing, but I want to double check before using it as such.

    TFPC pool care service?

Yeah I'm not sure there is really any profitability in it here in my area if my experimentation with my pool proves it feasible. Once pool tests are complete and method is proven then I just have to do market research via facebook over the winter and go from there.

Could someone recommend a pool cover for a 16' intex ultra frame please..

I have a 20' intex and was considering building a cross out of pvc with a vertical support in the center to support the cover

    Our green monster! oh no!

ok good deal i didn't read the entire thing so i apologize if it was mentioned, hopefully it will begin to clear stick with the advice here no matter how long it takes or discouraged you get! Since switching to TFP method my only problem is I want to vacuum daily because I can see literally...

4 days away -- use pucks or just raise FC before leaving?

when I left town for 4 days for a bike rally I just dumped a gallon of 10% bleach before I left. Started at 5ppm chlorine added a gallon left for 4 days, when i came back FC was 4ppm. Mine is full sunlight and the horrible cover that came with the pool didn't stay on over those 4 days so i...

    Our green monster! oh no!

Maybe, and this is a big maybe hopefully the experienced people will chime in, if the pool sat for a very long time maybe the filter media needs to be changed???

    Help, Please

Ok as you seem to be learning, after two trips to leslies and getting swindled. Pool stores no matter what names on the outside make money off of chemicals. All you will ever need is liquid chlorine(bleach or concentrated pool chlorine compare prices in your area vs % of chlorine to decide) a...

    TFPC pool care service?

I will probably experiment with this in my own pool for the rest of this season and see if i can find a bare minimum to maintain current conditions without going way overkill on the amount of chemicals added each "visit" and still maintain pristine conditions and algae not trying to grow.

    TFPC pool care service?

I think testing and re-balancing twice a week may be feasible. I know i have personally gotten lazy with my own testing rituals(my SWG hasn't worked since i set up my pool) and I still maintain perfect pool conditions. this last week i checked it maybe three times and only had to add minimum...

    TFPC pool care service?

I know a lot of people who don't understand how I keep my pool so clear. So my natural thought progression is since these people never listen when you give them advice, why not start a pool care service based off of the principles we all use to keep perfect pools? The biggest thing I can find...

Plastic liner in giant hole pool?

I will have to check on UV resistance of it but I know at the 1 year mark when they have to start covering them, the frac liner is no dry rot and perfect shape in in the non under water direct dry heat areas

Plastic liner in giant hole pool?

So I'm sure this has probably been covered, but being in my area i can get liner they use for frac ponds and equipment for me to do the dirt work pretty easy as well as plumbing knowledge so i do all the piping myself. My question is would this work and be able to run crystal clear perfect pool...

    New pool/new to salt

salt isn't any harder if you get your SWG running happy its actually easier as you have to add very little chlorine manually or none at all. Welcome to the forums listen to everyone here and the only problem you will have is seeing all the dirt on the bottom of the pool to easy!

New pool owner cloudy water 1 week old

There or home depot should their pool stuff is in "outside" nursery part with plants and what not. I get my acid there as well. - - - Updated - - - Also i like your new jet I may have to look into ordering a few and spreading out the return to several places around the pool instead of just one...

New pool owner cloudy water 1 week old

did you check lowes for your chlorine? the one I go to sell what i think is 10% in three packs. for 3.78 a gallon I think it's a better deal than the $2.50 a gallon of 6% costs me at the dollar store

First Saltwater Pool, couple of questions

I did just realize and do the test my CYA is below 30 now :( O well I will throw another pound of the stuff in and let it do its magic no big deal, just had forgotten this side effect of trying to lower my salt levels :hammer:
