Equipment PSA for the folks in warm climates

Also, I'm having a hard time removing the drain plug from my filter. I have a 7/8" wrench but I think the hex is stripped. I also don't have much leverage due to the equipment setup. There is so much stuff in the way. Is there a better tool or way to remove the drain plug?

Equipment PSA for the folks in warm climates

Hi guys! Thanks for the info. Very helpful. My cleaner pump broke during the TX winter freeze. I never knew that we should have drained the equipment. I spent some time reading the owner's manual. Someone stated that most equipment will have 2 drain plugs. I see that with my Pentair IntelliFlo...

    Which one to balance first?

I agree with you. I don't think I like my fill water. I think it creates instability with my chemicals. One last question. Of all the chemicals, CYA drives me crazy. It goes away so quickly. I was losing 6 ppm of chlorine daily during these past few weeks. I finally got some time to purchase...

Would you be concerned if your pH was proper and your TA is 40?

    Which one to balance first?

Hello everyone. I tried looking this info up because I know it's a common question but I could not find it. I'm trying to get my FC, pH, TA and CYA to recommended levels. Can you tell me which one I need to correct 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th? Thank you so much!

Should I replace the cleaner pump?

So I'm not trying to argue with you. I am truly grateful for everyone who has helped me through my journey as a pool owner. I just wanted to tell you what the pool guy said and use that for discussion. He stated algae will not grow in the line because algae needs sunlight to grow.

Should I replace the cleaner pump?

Thanks, Marty! That's a good idea. I might hook the hose and use it as another return. May I ask what it is that makes you "hesitant about the line to the pool?" Algae in the pipes?

Should I replace the cleaner pump?

Hi guys! Hope everyone is doing well. So I'm in TX and made it through the winter storm. However, my cleaner pump didn't. The housing cracked. I called my pool guy to tell him what happened. I told him that I do not need the cleaner pump as I have a robot. So he basically took the cleaner pump...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

I am trying to purchase a caddy for my Active 20 on Sunplay. I am looking at the one you guys recommended: Dolphin Caddy 9996087-ASSY | Dolphin 9996087-ASSY My question is: Will this fit my Active 20? The webpage does not list the Active 20 as one of the cleaners for this caddy. I talked to...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

My Active 20 came in today and I was reading the instructions. 1. It states we should not put the robot into the pool when FC is over 4 ppm. That seems kind of strange. Anyways, I'm currently SLAMMING my pool and FC is at 16 ppm. Has anyone ever put their robot into the pool at higher FC...

I will take a pic when I get home and post it. Thanks - - - Updated - - - So if I understand this correctly, I do NOT need to turn on my cleaner (booster) pump at all. Algae will not form in the pipes because water will still run through the pipes, even though the pump is NOT turned on. Is...

Not sure. They labeled the pump "Cleaner Pump." I also have a pump labeled "Booster Pump" and this pump is for my waterfall.

I currently have a cleaner and I just purchased the A20... What should I do with my cleaner pump, which I won't need anymore after I get the A20? I'm concerned that if I just turn the pump off, algae will form in the pipes that leads to my pool. I think someone will tell me to just leave it...

    Helping out my sister

I am a pool owner and went through Pool School on this forum. I understand how to care for my pool. My sister bought a new condo, which came with a spa. My sister asked me how to take care of her spa. I have a couple of easy questions: 1. I use Pool Math to find out the amounts of chemicals I...

    pH issue

Ok, I have another question. How do you guys lower TA? As far as I know, you just add MA? Is that correct? What do you do different, method-wise, when adding MA to lower ph vs adding MA to lower TA?

    pH issue

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. I think the fill water is high in alkalinity. I do not have any spa spillover and my water features are very minimal. I guess Home Depot will always be getting my money for MA. I'm just wondering if the more experienced pool owners on this forum are having...

    pH issue

I started on this forum about 1.5 yrs ago. I learned and applied the TFP method. I feel like I have been successful except for dealing with pH. Here are my numbers: pH: 8.0 TA: 70 CH: 320 CYA: 50 Cl: 6.0 I have to add MA every 2-3 days to get the pH down to 7.6 ppm. Last year, I asked the same...

    CYA and Chlorine Pucks

When I built my pool 1 yr ago, I was taught to use Chlorine pucks. I then found TFP and then use liquid chlorine ever since. My question is my current CYA is 30ppm and I want to raise it to at least 40ppm. I have heard that the pucks increase CYA as well as sanitize. Would it be ok for me to...

    Kreepy Crawly Racer

I read that we should remove our robot pool cleaner when we add chemicals. If my pool is balanced and all I'm doing is adding chemicals (ie: liquid chlorine, MA) to keep it balanced, do I still need to remove the robot. It's just a hassle to have to remove the robot, add the chemicals and then...

    Liquid Chlorine

Ok, thanks...I buy 10% liquid chlorine at Home Depot for about $4.75/gallon. By the way, if you get a Home Depot credit card, you will get 5% off of anything you buy there. All you have to do is use your credit card and remember to ask for the 5%; otherwise, they sometimes won't give you the...
