Looking for a wifi "Intermatic" style NTP based astronomical lighting controller / switch

Did some googles.. maybe don't have the keywords right.. looking for a 120V light switch that: 1. Has configurable astronomical features 2. Connects to wifi 3. Allows you to set the IP address of a NTP (network time protocol) server I don't want to rely on a manufacturer cloud service. Any...

    Pentair CVA-24 Replacement Cams

The family wanted to hot tub tonight, of course, so I had to Macgyver a solution. I wound up wrapping a small zip tie around the cam and super glued the zip tie around the cam. I also put super glue in the zip tie locking mechanism, then after it dried, I filed off the zip tie locking mechanism...

    Pentair CVA-24 Replacement Cams

Hi all, I searched the internet for replacement cams with no luck. Does anyone know if there are cams from other brands that will fit Pentair valves? One of my cams split. The previous owner seems to have tightened the locking nut too tight.

    Intellitouch Mode Priority

Ok - I will look into the spillway mode. I looked at the setup more closely. The previous owner adjusted the outlet valve microswitch so the valve can never fully pump to the pool. It's an 80% pool / 20% spa split. I guess they always wanted the waterfall when the pump is on. The waterfall is...

    Intellitouch Mode Priority

Hi all, I was hot tubbing last night. Beforehand, I switched Manual Priority Override to off (default). I thought MPO was something else, initially. I do not have screenlogic. Yes, when the pool filter runs the spa always gets 20% flow for the spa spillway. Ok, so no matter the settings, if...

    Intellitouch Mode Priority

Hi all, I've tried all the settings and consulted the manual. I am obviously missing something or there is a bug- probably me. Problem 1: If I manually turn on my hot tub it starts correctly 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time, the valves are not commanded to move to the spa positions...

Again: Uprated, Fullrated Motors; Service Factor

True, but overkill is underrated. : ) Maybe I will pickup a PSC motor and just slap a triac speed control on it. Same for my booster pump. So much over pumping in this industry..

Again: Uprated, Fullrated Motors; Service Factor

It makes sense that pump manufacturers would need to select a motor that would survive at the pumps max GPM. In my spa application the head and flow are set with no operable ways to increase the flow, so perhaps there is an opportunity to select a lower THP motor if I find my operating point and...

Thank you for the tip. The frame is rusted out, otherwise I would. Maybe I will get a motor cover so I can just change the bearings next time.

Again: Uprated, Fullrated Motors; Service Factor

Thank you all for the responses. I think I know where my problem is. If we assume a pump has a 1hp impeller, are you saying the rated nameplate horsepower on pool motors is just a marketing number? My understanding is NEMA specifies the nameplate horsepower as the rated horsepower of the motor...

    Pentair Boost-Rite for my Polaris

How's your power consumption been? Pentair claims about a 25% savings. In theory the multi-impeller design should be more efficient.

    Choice between 2 VS Pumps

What about the vari green 165? It bolts on to most pumps and is 400 out the door at some places. Pretty sure it has relay control. You could use the Intellitouch 2 speed relay if you only need two speeds. Maybe use AUX relays for more speeds. Just a thought for you.

Again: Uprated, Fullrated Motors; Service Factor

I know this has been discussed before, but I wanted to clear something up in my mind. I understand the pump impeller loads the electric motor, so a 3/4hp impeller draws 3/4hp shaft hp. The pump's electric motor must provide the 3/4hp to the shaft, and on top of that, absorbs energy in terms of...

    Intellitouch Question

I am just using the standard pool and spa modes, as far as I know. I think they are called master pool and spa. Do you know if spa mode overrides the cleaner mode?

    Intellitouch Question

Thanks for the tip. Right now I have a spa button, pool button, and cleaner button (booster pump). I also have a two speed filter pump. The spa button uses the filter pump on high and changes the two automatic valves, one for the pump intake (either pool or spa suction) and one for the return to...

    Intellitouch Question

Hi, not sure what you mean. I would like to have a reoccurring filter schedule that is overridden if I turn on my spa before the schedule activates. Currently, when I turn on the spa and the filter schedule activates after, the valves change to pool mode and I start heating the pool.

    Intellitouch Question

Hi all, I have my filter set to run at 4pm. When I manually turn on my spa at 3:30pm the valves turn properly to isolate flow to my spa. When 4pm rolls around the valves turn back to pool mode. How do I make it so spa mode overrides the pool mode until I'm done in the spa? Thanks a lot, Rob

I have a two speed pump and would like to have two valve positions for high and low while in pool mode. How do I accomplish this? It's not obvious in the manual.

Run booster with 2 speed filter on low?

Good point. I believe it is after. Pretty sure. I hear this isn't good for the booster pump though. No problems yet as far as I can tell.

Run booster with 2 speed filter on low?

I just installed a 3/4hp cap start/cap run two speed motor on my max E pro filter pump. I'm running a 1/2hp impeller. My intellitouch fires up the pump in high and the intellichlor fires. When the pump goes to low the intellichlor is still happy, which makes me happy. My question is: is it...

Is the Hayward Tristar Really an Efficency Leader?

Maybe somebody with a TriStar will perform the verification process in the future. It would nice to see the actual power draw compared to an estimate. Anybody? I've been playing with the spreadsheet numbers to see if buying a 3hp VS, and running it at a lower (and more quiet) speed, would be...
