Does hot tub mean it's attached to the pool, but elevated? If so, my installer said that when installing, do it first, when removing do it last. Makes the best use of gravity to reduce difficulty.

Pool cover - was quoted $1200

Another thing, when the sales lady initially called me, I told her to look at my pool on Google Earth and use the earth measuring tool to measure my pool/spa dimensions. She prepared my quote from that.

Pool cover - was quoted $1200

I chose green (alpine). And I'm happy I did. They do not cover the skimmer covers, so they will be accessible. Not sure you will need the cleaner. I left my Kreepy in. The leaf cover doesn't interfere with it, but I don't think Kreepy will find much to pick up. A Katchakid sales person will...

Pool cover - was quoted $1200

jark, looks like your pool is a mirror image of mine. Typically what months do you keep it covered. I'm thinking early/mid Sept through mid/late May. Have you had any managment issues that I need to hear about?

Pool cover - was quoted $1200

My Katchaleaf was installed today. It was $2490, not $2600 that I mentioned above. Cover looks good. Leaves started dropping already. I'm happy.

Pool cover - was quoted $1200

Hi jb. I didn't get other quotes. After I looked at their website, it was exactly what I was looking for. Looked tight fitting, and brass anchors on the deck to secure it tightly. They get busy this time of year because leaves will be falling soon. Contact them via their website, have a...

Next week I'm having a Katchaleaf Cover installed on my 18 x 36 pool (with raised attached spa). About $2600. Google Katchakid or Katchaleaf if you are interested.

https://www.troublefreepool.com/wiki/index.php?title=Breakdown_of_Bleach_Over_Time_by_Storage_Temp 4+ months at 110F. Check linked charts. I looked at degradation on the 8.25% chart and applied degradation %age to 10%. I think your bleach is less than 4%

Bleach - Check your date code

A 0.3 ml syringe is very accurate, if you can acquire one. Fill it to 0.1ml and add to 1 liter of distilled water. I weigh out 1000 g of water (=1000 ml).

Higher ppm chlorine to keep clear water

    Look at the CYA/Chlorine chart.

Be honest, who keeps their FC levels quite a bit higher than recommended?

I keep mine at or above minimum. If minimum is 5, and I lose 2 ppm per day, my dosing target is 7. I hug minimum but avoid going below minimum.

    Pump run time

I also run 2 hours per day. Works well and saves money. I will run longer if I see a need to (eg after a windstorm), but that doesn't happen often.

Why does the pool industry and much of the online community recommend making adjustments of pH?

CSI is affected quite a bit by pH. Acquariums might not care too much about scaling or plaster etching. But plaster pools do. I adjust pH to keep CSI close to zero.

    Trouble with Hayward Backflush Valve

This is the type of backwash valve that I have (push/pull piston). It's over 20 years old. Lately, it has become very difficult to unlock/lock and push/pull to backwash. It seems like the piston o-rings are sticking to the PVC pipe. Lubricant doesn't seem to help. I actually sheared the...
