My A20 also failed. Compared to the Maytronics S200 I previously had, this A20 sucks. I got two less than 2 seasons out of the A20; 4 with the S200. They say there’s not a big difference between some of these models, and the names are only difference, however, so far I will not buy an Active again.

When I did you my roller, I ended up doing what you stated (half it, then qtr.). I sandwiched the cover under the qtr pieces and secured it with galvanized screws. Worked good enough.

Do you buy the cheapest lightest as I do? I always look for a cheap 8 mil cover. Many times what I can find at Amazon. This year, I may buy my 20 x 40 8 mill from Doheny’s and cut it down to size.

Same exact situation: no reel, irregular kidney shaped Pool, raised step level on one side of the pool which makes for an uneven deck that’s not conducive for a reel.
