Drain king - plugged skimmer line?

Lubricated the o-ring, but that didn't do the trick. Any other ideas, or is it time to call the pool guy?

Drain king - plugged skimmer line?

The O Ring for the pump basket lid looks good, but I am going to pick up some lubricant for it and see if that helps.

Drain king - plugged skimmer line?

When I say, "acted like it primed," I mean it switched from priming to filtering on the control panel, but again, very little water in the basket.

Drain king - plugged skimmer line?

We did remove the check valve and were able to run water through the drain king back towards the skimmer. We did the tennis ball trick to build up pressure, and a baby turtle came flying out into my husband's hand! We thought we had solved our issue, but the pump still won't prime. We tried...

Drain king - plugged skimmer line?

Did not find any debris on the impeller. Should I take the cover off the check valve and remove it and then try to send water that way? I already tried it from the other direction, but then I read somewhere that that can make the clog worse and you need to come from the pump side towards the pool

Drain king - plugged skimmer line?

Hi! I am using a drain king to try to unclog my skimmer line. The reason I think it's clogged is because the pump won't prime. (It wasn't working right, and we realized the basket at the pump was full of debris. Thinking some of the debris also got into the ine.). Tried the drain king from...

    Thanks so much! Great tips!

    CSI and ph

Mine is not a newly plastered pool, but it does have plaster. Maybe I don’t need to be concerned about the csi being a little bit off? But I definitely don’t want to damage the plaster if I can help it.

    CSI and ph

I don’t like having to wear goggles and gloves and the strong smell of it. And I don’t like storing it because it can eat any metal that’s near it. I tried storing the tub inside a plastic bag, which I saw recommended somewhere, but that made the smell really strong when I would untie the bag. I...

    CSI and ph

So we have a plaster pool. I recently brought up the calcium level to 280, but when I did, it threw off the csi result so that it now says “potential for scaling”. I brought the PH down to 7.8, and that made the csi fine. However, within a couple of days, PH was back up to 8.2. My pool tends to...

small whitish circles floating on pool

Hi! I just noticed small white circles floating on the top of my pool. You can see them in the picture to the right of the shadow. At first they almost looked like oil splatters on water because they are perfectly round. We did have pollen floating on the pool, but it wasn’t round and the...

    Excess burn off

I realize it is safe to swim, but I was wondering if the chlorine burns off quicker if you go above the recommended range, so that daily adding will use less chlorine than every other day would. ex: recommended range is 5-9. I bring it up to 13, and two days later it's at 5. Would it lose...

    Excess burn off

Hi, everyone! I like adding a bottle of chlorine at a time, so I usually do that every other day. This means that I am usually going above the maximum recommended FC level for my Cya. I just came across something that says you can go too high for your cya too protect the chlorine. If the...

    Pool pump won't prime

Our skimmer didn't seem to have good suction, and so I tried to clear the line using a bladder in case there was a clog. I inserted the bladder in the line from the pump end to shoot water back down the line towards the pool. Nothing came into the skimmer, but now the pump won't prime. It...

    pollen

I have pollen floating all over the top of my pool. Have never seen it like this before. I am reading on here to use a skimmer sock, but skeptical that that will work because the pollen seems to just be sitting and not going into the filter. We just cleaned the cartridges, and it seems to be...

    Testing inconsistencies

Perfect! Thanks! That’s what I’ll do. I actually don’t brush the pool often, but we do vacuum frequently with a dolphin. I’ll get on a regular brushing schedule. Thanks!

I don’t. I’ll look into getting one, though. Thanks!

    Testing inconsistencies

Another quick question: the algae on the wall that I found that started all this felt slimy to the touch, and mustard algae is supposed to be gritty. But when I vacuumed, there was a lot of sand-colored grit in the filter bag. Is this mustard algae or just dirt?

    Testing inconsistencies

Water is crystal clear and has been the whole time. I passed the OCLT two nights ago and was just trying to keep it up to mustard shock, but it seemed to lose chlorine overnight last night. That’s why I’m concerned. I guess I’ll let it drift back to normal now and hope for the best? Just don’t...

    Testing inconsistencies

Water is crystal clear and has been the whole time! Should I declare this shock finished since I did pass the OCLT two nights ago? I just don’t want that mustard algae to start back up. The shocking process has taken so long and don’t want to have to restart it.

    Testing inconsistencies

It has a Taylor label on it and doesn’t expire for 8 months. It’s just frustrating because now I’m not sure if I had overnight loss or not, and if I did, I’m back to shocking. I know it’s supposed to be safe to swim at shock level, but I have never felt comfortable doing that and am ready to use...
