    TA very low???

re-ran a set of readings: pH 7.5, FC 6.5, CC 0, CH 200, TA 50. I didn't check the CYA today since it was 0 yesterday, but am in control of getting that right, using diclor as my chlorine source bit by bit until I get to cya goal. I am a bit paranoid about adding the boric acid now and...

    TA very low???

I know I must have overdone the muriatic acid. Somewhere I did careless measurement of it.

    TA very low???

that worked like a charm, thank you so much. I am wondering if I should wait another day and recheck before I add the borates?

    TA very low???

I have not had this problem before. Refilled the spa yesterday and initial TA 230. I did the acid/aerate routine a few times and I think I was over-zealous with this. Since my pH was getting less variable, I checked the TA again, and when I was putting the 5 drops of R-0008 in the tube, the...

    pool school for hot tub/spa

Working on getting my TA down to 50 and pretty close. Question is about Boric Acid and pool math: As I read it, for my 400 gal spa, adding 16 oz of boric acid with put me at 52. Is that 52 ppm? And that is my goal, correct? Thanks in advance.

    pool school for hot tub/spa

So far so good, my TH was 270 which I was quite impressed with. It is a lot faster to get this down with a spa because of all the jets. My CH is 250 which I was a little scared of but as best as I can tell, I don't need to worry about that???? (too many threads leads to analysis paralysis)...

    pool school for hot tub/spa

Hello, I used to have a pool, loved TFP and learned so many things. We are now getting a hot tub and I am trying to find my way to pool school on this site for hot tubs and not sure what I am doing wrong but can't seem to get there. It looks like there is a section on pool and hot tub...

The Physics of Freezing and Freeze Protection

Just want to say, over and over again--every question I have ever had about pools is answered on this site. It is the greatest resource for pool care out there. We are selling our home and my summertime joy (). Our new home won't have a pool (yet). Getting ready to list our house and...

    Closing question.

I did plan to raise to slam/shock, was just worried about the other numbers. Just wondering if the 24 hour spell was an absolute. Thanks so much for the input. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Closing question.

Here are my numbers this am. FC 5, CC 0, pH 7.2, TA 80, CYA 20. I want to close today if I can, it has been a whirlwind fall with very little time to spare for me. I haven't added bleach for over a week and I am still at 5. (I keep solar cover on it all the time.). My questions are...

Winter cover hold down - jugs, bags or cable?

I have thought about the mesh but am not too keen on dirt getting through. It took me forever to get my pool clean the spring I had the leak. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Winter cover hold down - jugs, bags or cable?

We have struggled with this also. I had the same experience with a "pillow" (used an old tire inner tube) moving the first year and that year our cover flopped up and down all winter like Jiffy Pop popcorn. Enough so that I ended up with a leak between the cover and my pool water, drained about...

    CH question

I am about 85% certain that I have no need to do anything but just want to check to make sure. I checked everything today with my test kit and my CH is 110. Since I have vinyl, I have no worries in that respect I think. But, I just would like to hear that from someone with experience. What...

I can see it now, is spa hose the same thing that is advertised as flexible pvc?

    wind control

My hubby is planning on using a generic pool cover like we did last year and then wrapping it with the Saran Wrap type stuff all the way down to the ground and also stuffing rags around the posts to block the wind. I am a little leery of this but at least it won't be worse than last year. I was...

    wind control

Putting a few inches of water on top of the cover also did not help as we are not below freezing all winter and when it wasn't frozen, the wind just blew the water to one side. This ended up with a big dip in the cover when it did freeze.

    wind control

Last year was my first winter closing. I used a solid cover and the wind blew it up like Jiffy Pop popcorn all winter. I bought some pool clips and they blew off, then I purchased pool wrap thinking that would help keep the wind from getting under the cover and it did not help either. We are...

    Help! Crazy pool install!

We had extensive leveling for our pool as well (partially because my hubby and his brother are computer programmers instead of excavators and did the work themselves and had to keep trying to get it perfectly level!) and thus we had a rather deep hole when we were done. I know it is a lot of...

Can this TA be right? (Newbie)

I had a similar problem last year when I first filled my pool. Pool school and a few questions on here fixed me right up. Basically I kept my ph pretty close to 7-7.2 by adding muriatic acid every couple days. I did point my jet up so it bubbled out of the water too. My TA dropped right down...

    Manual vacuum head

Does anyone have a preference for a manual vacuum head style or brand? I have an automatic pool cleaner but it always misses spots so I am going to get a manual head to get those areas. I see triangle shaped ones, rectangle shapes, some with wheels, some with brushes, some without. I am...
