New Pebble Tec fill - high PH

Okay finally had a good test. Added 60 oz of the new bottle of chlorine this morning and still tested some chlorine tonight! Just need to get used to the daily amount now so we’ll see how it goes tomorrow. FC - 2 CC - .5 PH - 7.5 TA - 100 CH - 400 CYA - 40

New Pebble Tec fill - high PH

I performed the test per the instructions and the water level was at 25 when I could no longer see the black mark on the bottom. I added 30 oz of stabilizer.

That sounds like a recipe for disaster! I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to do less work. Lol. I’ll be sure to test before they come so I can at least tell them the starting point.

New Pebble Tec fill - high PH

Got out this morning in between the rain to get some water samples to test. Starting to get some where. I added more chlorine again this morning as a result. For the CYA I did previously add some stabilizer as I assumed I was at 0 and was paranoid the chlorine was just burning off. Now that my...

New Pebble Tec fill - high PH

Previous I added 36 oz a few times which should have moved it up. This time I added 50 oz and just tested and finally have chlorine present. Generally speaking how often should I have to add chlorine (in this pre-SWG time)? Is it a daily thing?

New Pebble Tec fill - high PH

Got the new test kit and it confirms 0 chlorine…. Results are below. Was thinking of bumping up CYA before adding anymore chlorine. See if that helps… FC - 0 CC - 0 PH - 7.5 TA - 100 CH - 375 CYA - 25 Temp - 69

New Pebble Tec fill - high PH

Thanks everyone. I’ve been out of town for a couple days but the wife has been keeping the PH down so last night I tested and same results. The test kit looks good with the expiration on the bottles being later this year or 2025. The jugs on the other hand…. The one I was using is labeled 23...

New Pebble Tec fill - high PH

Yeah my kit is lacking so I ordered the TF-100 pro salt kit. Hopefully it will come soon because I can’t get any chlorine to measure after starting to add the pool essentials stuff yesterday. I added enough based on the calc that it should be measurable for sure but keeps coming up 0. I’m...

New Pebble Tec fill - high PH

Thanks! Added muriatic acid per PoolMath and got the PH back in line. I do have a Taylor kit and everything else besides chlorine and salt and all that goes with it is in line because I did not know we should add it in this period before we start the SWG. Thanks for that! Lots of great...

New Pebble Tec fill - high PH

I’ve had water in my pool for one week now. It is a PebbleTec finish. The PH was lower around 7 the first few days but has been rising since. Since I don’t have chlorine or salt at this point, what’s the recommended treatment to counter act the plaster causing the PH to rise? I see the...

New pool build in San Tan, AZ

Any suggestions on how to make the shallow end deeper? Is it fine to have a drop off or do I need to add another step? Like I said and it shows that is not the actual plumbing layout but I do plan to confirm all those elements before approving these in any way. Thanks for the heads up on the...

New pool build in San Tan, AZ

Got the first engineering plans back this morning. I was hoping the overall pool depth would have been deeper. I am going to see if we can do more on that last step to get it lower than 3'. Is it possible to just have it drop off more or would we need to add a 4th step if it got significantly...

New pool build in San Tan, AZ

Updated specs and plan with a few landscaping and design changes. We're feeling pretty good about the overall design at this point. Specs and equipment list below. Not much changed there. We left the 5 relays for now, but the 8 is on our radar. Pool Size 25 x 17 Pool Gallons 9775 Spa...

It’s just the way the quote is itemized. That’s the line item in their system for the sheer descent that they add and then the plumbing is covered under the overall plumbing section.

New pool build in San Tan, AZ

Thanks! This stuff I understand from having a saltwater reef tank for years and maximizing flow rates at head pressure! But the specifics about pools like this are all new to me. There’s a ton of great info on here and I appreciate all the help.

We will have 2 lights in the pool and then 1 in the spa. Ideally we have some options to grow/add lights and it’s not just maxed out day one because you raise all good points. We don’t really know right now if I’m honest. Easy to say one switch to control them all is fine! Until it’s not…. Lol

Ok that makes sense. We’ll be sure to mention the drain as well. Thanks!

Thanks for all the comments about the depth. That is a big factor and I am confirming the profile now. As far as the IFCS - all the builders so far have included them in our quotes. If I ask for it to be removed, what additional items should I expect to be added in? Just surface skimmers...

New pool build in San Tan, AZ

Thanks. That has been our mentality overall - don't skimp on the pool. Push off as much of the landscaping as possible to get the most we can out of the pool. And if we can't get the pool we really want we would wait until we could. We'll get that automation back in there! That was our...

Steps are 8" so the pool itself starts at 32" and goes down to just over 5' at the deepest.

Got it! Thank you very much! These builders will tell you whatever you want to hear I am convinced. We will add it and I'm going to press on the pricing as well.

New pool build in San Tan, AZ

Thanks, they all did have the automation in there (and it's still an option). They said that it is something that can be added down the road and isn't required right off they bat. We thought it was an easy place to save a few bucks, but should we prioritize that? They had the Pentair -...

New pool build in San Tan, AZ

Hello everyone, we are just getting started on our new pool build out in San Tan Valley, AZ (Phoenix area). It's a new construction home and this will be our first pool we own so we are new to the game. We started by getting bids from several pool builders and through attrition we are down to...

    New member new to pools

Hello everyone. Just moved from cold Chicago to hot sunny Phoenix so its time to become a pool expert! We bought a new construction home and have typical Phoenix area backyard of 65x30 that is currently a blank slate. We've been talking with pool builders and have a design we think we like but...
