    Finding affordable chlorine

This is all very helpful. Thank you! We looked at a variable speed pump last replacement but it wasn’t in the budget. Sounds like we should have stretched a bit. Makes me wonder about having to change pumps so often. We’ve had two in the past 6 years. I think we had 3 in the 16 yrs prior...

    Finding affordable chlorine

All of you a making me feel much more comfortable with getting one. Thanks you. that’s reassuring. I would definitely get the drop test. I’m religious with testing I haven’t looked up the circupool you mentioned. Many recommend one for twice your volume of water. I was going to ask if that’s...

    Finding affordable chlorine

Sounds familiar about the PB although he only replaced our liner, pump and added a timer with freeze sensor. I dread all the new levels and settings to learn if we do get a SWG. All the info you posted is helpful!

    Finding affordable chlorine

We stay open all year and have low temps in winter too. I already knew a SWG wouldn’t work below 50 degrees so we’d have to use liquid chlorine until the water warmed up. But like you said, the amount of liquid is much less in winter.

I’ve never seen the salt broken down and compared between the two. I’m going to look at some on the SWG’s. Thank you for pointing this out.

    Finding affordable chlorine

Thanks Geojaneo, You live in a showcase of beautiful color in the fall. Always a pleasant drive. I’m getting chlorine from Walmart at the same price. Stores in the area are out and not getting more until spring. For now I’m ordering online and plan to store in the basement. Perfect temp all...

Thank you for responding. A local pool builder who put our last liner in advised against the SWG. One would think he’d like the install fee. Now I’m torn.

    Finding affordable chlorine

We're in the same pickle as everyone else who uses chlorine in their pool. We keep the pool open year round, so continue to need chlorine through the winter. Does anyone know if this shortage and high pricing is going to end? I've been told SWG isn't an option because our inground has...

    Changing manual vacuum head brushes

Yes, very stubborn. the clam shell as you called it came apart fine. It is the corroded metal base to the brushes that won't budge when grasped with pliers at the open end of the tunnel. I can't find my WED-40 so I tried cooking spray. Nope. Still stuck. I really hate to give up and buy a...

    Changing manual vacuum head brushes

I need to replace the worn our brushes on my Hayward sp 1068 b manual vacuum head. The metal on the brushes has rusted and corroded so they are stuck. Any ideas? I've tried vinegar to no avail. Would WD-40 work? Also, are re the Hayward brushes any better than the off brand? Thank you! Joan

    Ground wire not connected

Good day! This looks like the ground wire came loose from where it was pieced together then taped correct? If so, do I piece it back and re- tape? If so, what kind of tape to survive the elements? Thank you! Joan

    Is Quikrete sand ok?

the new lateral assebly is in, 300lbs of new sand and a new O Ring for the multiport valve. I used Lube Tube on the new O Ring, lined up everything and turned it on. I have a huge leak around the flange clamp. The clamp is already screwed tight but it's not pulling the valve housing down...

    Is Quikrete sand ok?

I'm guessing the pool was built with the house (1989) but don't know for sure. All I know for sure is the pool and equipment were here when we bought it in 2002. I think you're right that the folding model is the replacement. I don't know if the one I have is bad really. Nobody answered that...

    Is Quikrete sand ok?

I found this on the back of the filter. I had it written on my pool file folder but didn't trust myselft as being correct. My fault for not looking behind the filter before. I probably got the info there years ago. Since the folding assembly says it will fit, that's what I will order. By the...

    Is Quikrete sand ok?

INYO pools didn't help either. I gave them part numbers from lateral and tree. I also sent pics through chat and he sent me a link for a completely different filter with side mount valve. He suggested I buy a new filter. I told him I'm not going to do that. Does anyone know if the...

    Is Quikrete sand ok?

Well DON'T call Hayward! I was on hold for 45 minutes for someone named Jeff who spoke broken English and could NOT understand what I was asking when I ask how to identify the model number of my sand filter due to no info on the filter. He said not his area of expertise.

    Is Quikrete sand ok?

Merged threads - TFP mod Hi guys, No numbers on my sand filter so I measured it a few years ago to get model #. A Hayward S244T was determined. I remeasured day before yesterday to be sure and got the same thing thinking I may need a new lateral assembly. I was low in sand which was also...
