    New Century 1.4hp replacement motor

Just replaced a standard Century (AO) 1.4 motor a two months back. Now with the first real cold spell, this new motor is already making that typical metal on metal screeching sound at start up along with slow rotation. It was always my understanding that you just plugged and played these...

    Pentair IC 40 problem

On the advice of Pentair, I replaced the flow switch and i have the same problem of the Salt content light flashing green and the unit not making chlorine with proper salt levels. This seems to be another "common problem", at least on here. Now they advise replacing the unit, after 1 year, and...

    GFCI breaker started tripping

Yes ok, i've chased this all the way down to the pump being the grounding issue. 1hp Century b128 probably 5-7 years old. Is this a break it open and find the short type of repair or new motor. I have one.

    GFCI breaker started tripping

Ok, I have replaced gfci with a new 20amp outlet. Still having the same problem. When the pump is not wired in, the outlet reads properly grounded. I’m obviously making a wiring mistake on the grounding somewhere. Pics enclosed.

    GFCI breaker started tripping

I've had the same wiring configuration for 10+ years at the pump equipment site. Primary electricity to breaker at the main box to GFCI outlet at pump site to intermatic 101 to motor. In normal times there would also be a saltwater generator wired to the intermatic as well. Currently that is...

    Pentair IC 40 problem

yes sir, it is. I've got in the 24 hour shock mode and the "cell" light is green. Oddly, the salt content light is flashing, too much salt as you stated, but I havent added salt in weeks and the last working date was Friday and the light was solid. If anything, the salt should have been...

    Pentair IC 40 problem

Is a reason, regardless of chemical content, that it wouldn’t generate chlorine if there is enough salt in the water to do so?

    Pentair IC 40 problem

OK, I have recently had some electrical problems and replaced a GFCI outlet and my Intermatic timer. It turned out to be some grounding issues. Probably could’ve reuse the old equipment, but figured I would swap it out while I was working on it. my Pentair is less than a year old and is not...

    Filter time, post shock basics...

Thanks, one last question. I got the FC level up to the appropriate level (12), initially. I did not maintain 12, currently 5+. I obviously didn't maintain 12 for the whole time, why does it need to stay so high for that long? If I'm holding steady at 5+, what is not happening by not being...

    Filter time, post shock basics...

Ok, basic filter questions, post shock. For years I, mistakenly, was using flocculent to help in the clearing of the pool water. My pool sits on a direct, heavy tree line and i am forever clearing debris, pollen, etc. So this month i replaced the filter sand that was fouled by the floc, at...

    Flocculant?

Ok, had some trouble a few weeks ago with balanced, yet green, water. Turned out to be a need to replace filter sand due to the ongoing use of floc and that degrades the sand somehow. I've replaced the sand and will soon need to add floc (the original owner of this house put the pool along a...

Normally I do vac to waste, but can’t say I’ve never recirc’d. So I probably do need to change it?

    Couple of things?......

Hold the phone, I do use floc. My pool was unfortunately built next to a tree line, where it never should have been. So, affirmative, I have used floc. How does that effect?

    Couple of things?......

I've got the green tint issue, gin clear water, but not really asking about the tint. I've got the Leslie's guy telling me to change my filter sand. It's been 10 years since i did it and seem to remember several TFP'ers telling me that it really never needs to be changed. Second, in repairing...

    Pentair SWG Warranty

This was the thread i was referring to and I agree, if you look at the pics, I had corrosion on top of the flow switch and oozing out of the cut power cord like foam puss... As referred to in the thread, it looked like the kind of saltwater corrosion you would see in marine wiring, if it was not...

    Pentair SWG Warranty

Well from my perspective, I'm replacing a cell that's just over two years old due to saltwater corrosion inside the unit. Appartently, an unusual problem based on my previous thread. Prior to that, my previous Pentair cell lasted 10 years and I cleaned it, maybe, twice in that time. So, its...

    Pentair SWG Warranty

Ok, i need to replace my cell and i called Pentair to ask about warranties and they gave me a lot of talk about different warranties based on where i bought it. Was just going to get another one off Ebay, but people on here say that's a bad idea and not sure what warranty that leaves me. What...

    Pentair ic-60 flow problem

No auto no Automation, still even a mechanical timer, if you can believe that. so does this just look like water in the unit? No way to crack it open right? Never seen foam in a wiring harness before.

    Pentair ic-60 flow problem

Well, the rest of the unit works, but it may only be a matter of time. i cannibalized the flow switch off my old ic60 and no go. Would presume if it worked on one it would work in the other. is Pentair still any good or is there another swg I could just plug into what I have if I’m gonna have...

    Pentair ic-60 flow problem

Would corrosion in the flow switch work it’s way all the way up the wiring harness and bubble out like foam from the cell end?
