IC20 - Cell light blinking green

I ordered from Poly Tec. In case it helps someone else: After ordering from Polytec, got an email response from Marina. They do sell the IC40. Don't know their pricing however.

IC20 - Cell light blinking green

Where is best place to buy? Amazon? Unfortunately, I had to replace our robot cleaner 2 days ago. Ordered from Marina. They don't carry salt generators do they? Didn't see salt generators on their website. I emailed them, but probably won't hear back for a day or so.

IC20 - Cell light blinking green

Just checked IC20. Blinking again. Salt level is 4000. Probably time for a new cell. We have a 16k pool with an automatic cover. Because of the cover, it stays pretty clean. I try to minimize pump usage and run for 4 hrs or so a day. During the peak summer, IC20 can't keep up chlorine...

IC20 - Cell light blinking green

Just hooked the IC20 back up. Flow and Salt lights are both green. Diagnostics is showing 8000 hours. Cell light not blinking now, but I'm assuming that is temporary. Pool chlorine levels have been dropping much more than usual. Just checked CYA and it is a little low (50-60).

IC20 - Cell light blinking green

I have an IC20. Came back from vacation and cell light blinking green. Had some calcium build up. I acid washed as I couldn't remove with garden hose. Blinking light stopped. 2 days later, chlorine production is poor. Cell light blinking green again. Is the IC20 dead? Anything else I can...

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

I was reading the EasyTouch manual today. There is a "Fill / Spillway" valve position which is supposedly only available in the service mode. There is also a preset circuit function called "Spillway" which pulls water from the pool and returns to the spa. I assume that this is different...

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

I'm planning on tapping into the spa suction line / main drain at the pad and re-inject into the bubbler return line (also at the pad). Don't know pipe length or number / type of fittings yet. Want to first determine what automation can and can't handle.

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

This was my next area of questioning. I'm certainly naive in regards to our pool automation. We have an Easy Touch (8) system. I have never fully understood the ideal pool / spa setup for the Easy Touch or whether the Easy Touch was truly designed to control BOTH the pool and spa. Our...

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

Am I thinking about this correctly? In spillover mode: Q (pool->spa) = Pipe Area (pool->spa) * Velocity (pool->spa) = Q (overflow) = Pipe / Tank Area (overflow) * Velocity (overflow) Need to decrease pump speed as much as possible Need to increase Pipe / Tank Area (overflow) as much as...

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

Jim, This is finally making sense to me. Have you seen / installed such an arrangement? I'm surprised this is not more commonplace. For those that have an automatic cover and both pool and spa, this plumbing scenario makes much more sense to me than our current setup with duplicate circulations.

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

JasonLion mentioned 2 similar approaches to the "virtual spillover": "It is possible to replumb things so that the two share water, but it is a fairly major job. The main trick is to create a virtual spillover, basically a small tank that is connected to the spa return and has a drain pipe...

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

Jim, First of all - I can't thank you enough for your time, explanation, and expertise. Thank you very much! This IS what I had in mind. I have an engineering degree; however, I have not had engineering job experience. As such, I like to understand how things work before I implement them...

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

Jim, How would you plumb this being that I can connect the pool and spa plumbing? In a manner similar to what JasonLion suggested? Thanks for the help. Chad

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

I considered tackling this project back in 2013. However, I was concerned that it was too much for me to handle. However, after installing the heat pump and now facing a broke gas heater, I want to attempt this project. In 2013, I posted about this and JasonLion replied: "There are several...

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

Jim R, Pool and spa plumbing is centralized in a utility room off the garage. Would be no problem to add plumbing between them. Basically, I want the ability to have the pump circulate 1) only pool water, 2) only spa water, or 3) combined pool and spa water depending on valve settings. How...

Pool & Spa plumbing - Creating a virtual spillover

Have 16k gallon pool with automatic cover as well as an 800 gallon elevated spa. Because of the automatic pool cover, both the pool and spa have separate sand filters and variable speed pumps. As such, I have 2 separate chemistries to maintain. I also just installed a heat pump for the...

    Leak at threaded filter outlet

I could try teflon tape; however, before making connection, I found several posts online recommending a non-hardening teflon based sealant over the teflon tape. Just took the connection apart again. Cleaned it. Didn't see any hairline cracks. Initial thread on fitting is a tiny bit chipped...

    Leak at threaded filter outlet

Just installed a pool heat pump. Thanks for all the help! For the most part, everything is now running great. Only issue to resolve - I have a slow drip / leak at my sand filter threaded outlet. Initially, I installed connection with a thin layer of T Plus 2 thread sealant, tightened hand...

Installing heat pump. PVC coupler too long - Need help.

Thanks. This is what I was looking for. Options: 1) Use this coupler to install as I planned (as shown in installation manual photo). 2) Make loop upwards to accommodate additional union installation for spring check valve maintenance / replacement. Anybody used a similar spring check...

Installing heat pump. PVC coupler too long - Need help.

AquaCal specifically calls for this check valve. Hayward recommends a bypass if over 75 GPM. From AquaCal instruction manual:

Installing heat pump. PVC coupler too long - Need help.

I'm installing a Hayward HP21404T. This is in regards to a bypass check valve that only opens during high flow rates (over 70 GPM or so). I'll have separate bypass valves (to isolate heater for maintenance) and a separate check valve (to prevent high Chlorine backflow into heater. I know this...

Going vertical would allow me to add 2 unions for service / replacement of check valve.

Installing heat pump. PVC coupler too long - Need help.

Thought about that. That adds 2 90 degree elbows between heater and valve (at either inflow or outflow of valve). Was thinking that wasn't advisable based on wording of instruction manual. Not a big deal in your opinion?

Installing heat pump. PVC coupler too long - Need help.

I'm a plumbing novice. Installing a pool heat pump. Installation manual recommends installation of a pressure check valve for larger pool pumps (which we have); however, no information is supplied re: installation. Have found installation suggestions via an instruction manual of a different...
