    URGENT Help needed! Please! Leak?!

Been there, done that...we accidently siphoned off pool water by leaving the submersible pump in after unplugging it. Had the same oh-no moment of thinking it was a major leak!!

No built in skimmer diverter. Any options?

Here's one I built last fall to keep at least one skimmer from clogging due to leaves in the fall and locust tree flowers in the spring. I put the lip around the bottom to capture degree when I'm left it out.

Help on how to prep for coping install around a steel panel pool

We did pavers and did a single 8 gauge wire around the pool under the pavers attached at 4 points. Under the diving board and ladder concrete we do have rebar and mesh the copper wire is attached to.

Pool base - Minnesota pool install

We did a concrete and sand mix. Had a local company deliver it and they dumped right into the pool to be spread. No regrets except wish it was spread out smoother. There was a storm rolling in so we were very rushed and it looks a bit like the surface of the moon when the lights are on.

    New pool build June(started)

We did pavers and are happy with our decision. It did take longer and we waited until the following spring to do them. They get hot but I don't like blinding lighter colors so it was a bit of a trade off. We also didn't think we could tackle that much concrete on our own. When we priced out...

    New pool build June(started)

That looks great! Good job and you moved much faster than my husband and I. It took us two months from breaking ground to dropping a hose in to fill the pool. Yes, I would add liquid chlorine and stir it with a brush to keep the water clear until your test kit arrives. If you got a robot...

New 20x41x30 L Vinyl Pool Going In Near Pittsburgh

We have two of the same lights in our 16,42x26 and it is bright. The good part is if one goes out you still have one light working. We also did pool warehouse and fully DIY so kept it simple with no automation. I like our sand filter but haven't had to deep clean it yet so that may change our...

New Build - DIY IGP in Minnesota

We did a DIY from pool warehouse and here my two cents as a non professional. We didn't do main drains and haven't noticed the water temps being noticeably different. We do have aqua genie skimmer/returns which may be part of the reason. The only time a main drain would have been handy is...

DIY PA - Paver time is coming!

I work in Harrisburg so very close neighbors! So you asked if we would do it again? I would do it ONCE but I would not be willing to put my family thru that twice :). It really did consume almost a year of our time with planning, building and cleanup. The pattern was go to work, get home...

Bonding question - Upper and lower?

When I say above ground I actually mean under pavers. It was the diving board, ladders, pump etc.

Bonding question - Upper and lower?

Our inspector wanted to see the light niche bonding before we back filled and the trench to the equipment pad. The second inspection was all the above ground bonding and electrical.

    Pool seating with jets

Is this for a vinyl pool? We have what is called a "cozy cove" that is a half circle and has jets. It is for inground vinyl pools and you could find pics using Google I'm sure.

    DIY - Poolwarehouse build

We did a Pool warehouse true L in the 16x41x26 size with two aqua genies and two separate returns. I think you do want more returns even thought the aqua genies has them built in as well. We also have step returns and each return is plumbed separately. The aqua genie built in returns are...

DIY PA - Paver time is coming!

Hi, just want to give some picts and an update on our diy build. We had our first pool party yesterday! The water is 81 degrees already with no heater which I didn't expect. Our pump failed a couple of weeks ago but luckily was still under Hayward warranty so it took about two weeks to get up...

NE OH - DIY Pool Build

Think hard on the 42 inch walls because your water depth ends up around 34" after 2" base and water height to middle of the skimmer. We did go with 42" and are happy with the decision but I can see where 48 inch might be preferred. As far as equipment someone more knowledgeable than I needs...

Need gravel advice for overdug "Dig, Refill, Redig" Rock Excavation Method

Just want say glad to hear the project is moving! I remember the post last year when you hit rock! I felt bad for you on that...encouraging part is that the dig is the worst part of diy in my opinion! It seemed like the mud would never end. Once you start assembling walls and doing plumbing...

    4 month old liquid chlorine

I hope it is fine because I just bought 30 gallons of the same batch in PA. Some of the hDX brand they had in stock was dated 2018 032, so I had to ask them to get the 2019 015 batch down from the highest shelf! My Hayward 3400 vsp died the same day so I can't say how good the chlorine is yet...

    Vinyl vs concrete (or fiberglass)?

Well, we are coming down the home stretch on our diy vinyl pool and I call it Legos for grown ups. We had the same issue with no concrete skills and chose to do pavers. We got much more pool for our dollar doing it ourselves. My husband and I are rather handy but the internet and YouTube were...

DIY PA - Paver time is coming!

Hey Jimmy, I've tried finding your build thread but it's like a needle in a haystack.. do you have a link? It gave us inspiration that there was light at the end of the tunnel when we started this!

DIY PA - Paver time is coming!

Thanks for the info everyone! We got 13 tons of crusher run and are working on framing the pavers and wheel barreling all that stone. I'm not complaining though cause it'll help with that winter layer I put on. I hadn't thought of coloring the concrete so I'm glad you mentioned it. The...

Hello TFP - We took a long, much needed break over the winter and in about a month hope to be start back working on our pool. The construction team is my husband and I. We got as far as back filling the pool, filling it and testing it out!. Our yard is a crazy disaster but hopefully we can...

    Two different Chlorine readings

We have all boys but the older two wouldn't even think about it! With such a late fill we never got up past 75 degrees in the water but we all still swam when it was that temp.

    Two different Chlorine readings

Good to know about the quick test. I thought I may have way over chlorinated! I did not do a full range of tests. I did play with some of the other tests when we first filled but we've been pretty crazy backfilling and trying to get ready for decking so I've mainly been targeting the cya and...
