    Taylor kit without calcium test

Follansbee water is drawn from a series of deep wells. We clean and/or replace shower heads and faucet aerators almost every year. It wreaks havoc on washing machines, dishwashers and ice makers too. Out of the tap our water is higher than the Taylor test can measure.

    Taylor kit without calcium test

Sorry, I haven't logged test results in a long time. We have extraordinarily hard water. It's off the scale out of the tap so I can only say it's over 1000. To counter the scale and cloudiness I tend to keep the pH on the lower side, around 7.2, which is not hard as our water is naturally...

    Taylor kit without calcium test

Hey folks, Is there a Taylor test kit similar to the 2006-c but doesn't include the calcium/hardness test? We have a vinyl pool and our CA measures off the chart right out of the tap. I don't need the chemicals so thought I might save some money if there was a kit that didn't include them. Thanks.

    Pool Math App

I'm not one for the latest apps on my phone, but I love the pool math app. I don't have to jot the test results down and go the PC and figure out what to do now. I can just plug it into the app and bingo, done deal. Thanks to all who had a hand in that little gem! Now if I could figure out how...

What did you do to your pool today?

The pool is clear! Tint is completely gone. Final vacuum complete, FC is down to 12, CC is 0.0. Spring opening from cover off to SLAM complete in just FOUR days thanks to TFP!!!!!! Last year was my first year ever trying the TFP way. I've never had the pool clear in 4 days after opening. You...

What did you do to your pool today?

Yesterday I tested the water early in the morning. FC holding at 16, CC at 0.5. I overshot pH which was at 7.0 (maybe a little lower) and is now 7.6-7.8. That's not a big issue though as our fill and rain water are acidic. My CA is off the charts high, as usual. My fill water tests off the...

What did you do to your pool today?

Today I taught youngest daughter about balancing the water, which we did together. We vacuumed the pool, brushed everything down then started the spring SLAM. I should probably mention that youngest daughter is finishing her freshman year at college majoring in Veterinary Medicine. Talk about...

What did you do to your pool today?

FINALLY!! My youngest daughter and I pulled the winter cover off, after scooping out gallons and gallons of nasty, stinky pond water and leaves. The pump and plumbing are installed and connected and the hose is in. There are some leaves in the pool from when the cover fell in over the winter...

Ways to prevent pvc pipes from bursting, which are above ground under deck-solar pipes?

You have electric under there. Put a heat trace on it. Or, put isolation valves in and disconnect the offending pipes for the winter so they cannot fill with water.

    Second return...

I was just reading a thread where a second return on an AGP was mentioned. I'm all for that! Where exactly would be the ideal place? Do you isolate the two for any reason? Is there a maximum depth? I would love to get better bottom circulation. Can I just add it a foot or so below the existing...

    OMG....Help!!! Digging/leveling drama galore!

It's not as hard as you might think. I have leveled both of my pools (18' and the new 24') by hand using a roto-tiller and a shovel. It's a lot of work, but the process is simple: 1. Remove all of the sod. ALL OF IT. 2. Find the lowest spot in the pool area. To mark out the pool rough...

    Hey @leebo

Thanks y'all. Didn't know it had to be in the thread body Rob. Thanks. I'm not very good at this online stuff. Leebo, I have very high Ca in my fill water. It measures off the scale so it's a serious balancing act to keep the pH and everything else in check so it doesn't go cloudy. And I know...

Will this heat pump work on a 60A subpannel?

This exactly. You must assume worst case scenario (as the code does). It "should" work, you'll "probably" be OK are recipes for trouble later. Someone mentioned upgrading the sub-panel. That's the best bet depending, of course, on how far it is from the main panel and how difficult it would be...

    Hey @leebo

Since we're probably close enough for my bees to visit your yard, I was wondering when you start up your pool in the spring. I usually wait until the first full week of May, but would like to get an earlier start this year.

    Anyone a motorcycle rider?

Definitely a beautiful bike Chi Town. I know what you mean about the fiberglass stuff. I love my Street Bob. It just looks like a motorcycle should to me. But, as I mentioned before, a bagger is probably in my future. I'm NOT giving up my Bob though...but dang...a sweet CVO softail might make me...

    Anyone a motorcycle rider?

Loaded for the road that's for sure. That trunk is huge! That's probably the biggest "tank" bag I've ever seen too. And for the record, I'm not one of those "If it's not a Harley...blah, blah, blah types". If you're on two wheels, that's good enough for me (even trikes are ok :) )

I don't think the bees will even notice Kim. They are too busy raising babies!!!!

    Anyone a motorcycle rider?

Somebody has a few dollars in their bike! I love those wheels. The chrome looks awesome with that paint too. I wanna take a guess and say that's a Softtail CVO. Looks like Screamin' Eagle heads. Sweet ride! I got mine out this morning. It's sitting on the pool patio under roof...won't the wife...

Ugh. Winter cover is in the pool

I just realized the pool pic doesn't look as bad as it really is. The water is much lower than it appears. It's at least a foot or more below the return.

Ugh. Winter cover is in the pool

Saved it!!! WooHoo! That tiny little pump, hardly bigger than a Zippo lighter, pumped nearly every drop of water off the cover. The weight of all that water, snow and ice forced a lot of water out through the return leaving the pool barely half full. I have the hose in it now bringing the level...

    Anyone a motorcycle rider?

You're right Jim. Cagers do not see us. At least the other driver didn't turn left in front of you...I HATE that! But, cell phones are not making matters any better. For the non-riders reading this, a cager is a car driver that doesn't ride a bike. Remember...LOOK TWICE-SAVE A LIFE...

    Anyone a motorcycle rider?

Nice pic FT. Accident? Do tell. I've never ridden a GS but they just don't look comfortable to me. Maybe it's just the way the tank and bars look. I've always been a laid back cruiser type myself.

    Anyone a motorcycle rider?

Nice BMW Thomas. Looks like a nice Road King (I think) too. I can't bring myself to do the no helmet and tennis shoe thing anymore. Just too many distracted drivers out there these days. WV has a helmet law anyway.

I'll give it try Rob. The little pump is doing great! The water is coming off slowly but surely.
