    To purchase a 24' or 27' AGP

We have a 28ft, because our neighbors said their 30-something was hard to buy stuff for. The 28 is great, but if we had it to do again, we'd go bigger. If he walks the rail, my husband can reach the center (and in to the deep section) to vac when we're opening without any trouble. If we went...

Is it dangerous to swim after adding chlorine?

It will also stain white quartz countertops, and take several hours of soaking with "softscrub with bleach" to remove. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I put a plastic placemat down now when I test in the kitchen.

Intex ultra frame xtr 24' x 52" keeping it up year round in cold climates.

Oops, just saw this, sorry! No, no suggestions, we opted for a regular above ground before I started researching options. Hopefully someone else here can suggest something?

Intex ultra frame xtr 24' x 52" keeping it up year round in cold climates.

We left one up through the winter in MN. Following suggestions here, we drained a few inches below the hoses, and then covered it with the included Intex cover. The cover didn't manage to stay on all winter, but the pool was fine. Because we were using the original pump and tiny filter, we did...

    FB Pool Group

Exactly! I didn't have those lessons and got in to credit card trouble my first couple years of college. It took a while to dig myself out, and while I figured it out and didn't have to ask for help, it would've been nice not to land myself in that mess in the first place. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Ours just...

    FB Pool Group

So far, so good here too. We just make sure to talk to her about it - what's good, what's bad, what's acceptable behavior, what's not. Someday she'll be out of our bubble, off on her own and needing to interact with all sorts of people and make judgement calls about all sorts of things. Our...

    Best above ground robotic vacuum

We have the Dolphin S50 and the optional fine filter basket (we only use that when we're getting a lot of dust/pollen). It's not supposed to climb the walls, but every once in a while it makes it up to the waterline.

    Official 2021 Pool Critters Thread

We had a young crow fall in ours last week and its parents were freaking out. My husband jumped in with all his clothes on, scooped up the crow with a net, carried it out to a shady spot in the yard, and then brought it some dog food and water (all while the parents kept going nuts). The parents...

What did you do to your pool today?

Replaced a faulty board in the heater, tested water, added CYA, and tossed the robot in. Tonight we swim. 🎉
  11. S-Merry

    What's your current pool temp?

70 right now, but the new board just went in to the heater and now it's on its way to 85. 🎉 Tonight we swim! 🍾🥂

OMG did our new salt cause THIS???

Maybe wait for someone here to weigh in before using the bleach on your coping? While it worked on the quartz (mfr recommended for most stains on our type of counter), I don't know how it works on stone/cement or if there might be a reason not to use it with silver nitrate. It never occurred to...

OMG did our new salt cause THIS???

I spilled silver nitrate on our white quartz kitchen counters last year. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I poured soft scrub with bleach on it, covered it with a paper towel and let it sit all day (wiped off to check periodically, then poured and covered again), and it finally faded out. Is Hydrogen Peroxide the better...

AGP with Safety fence, but solar reel issues

We cut our 28 ft cover in to four wedge shaped pieces. Sometimes we neatly roll them and place them in the shade, others, we grab an edge and just drag them through the ladder and leave them in a messy pile next to the pool. They're easier to handle, and to put back on, when rolled, but rolling...

We regret getting an above ground instead of an in-ground.

I would love to have an in-ground rather than our AGP, but with all the drainage issues we have on our heavy clay lot (so many issues!), being in MN with a short pool season, and already having a 12 yr old when we put it in, the AGP was the better choice for us. This will be our fourth summer...

Who’s getting ready for the next season?!

Thank you for posting this - I totally forgot we needed a new solar cover! 🤦🏼‍♀️ We did a lot of new landscaping and added screen curtains to the patio last year (OMG, love, love, LOVE the mosquito curtains! 😍 ). This year we're finally adding the deck extension out to the pool, and...

    Digging A Deep End

Our excavator/installer balked at a similar request "for safety reasons." I believe he said two feet was the minimum for the perimeter ledge, and on one side, he insisted on a gradual slope in to the deeper water "making it easier to for someone to get out of the deep part if they're panicking."...

Saltwater Aurora all-resin pool build thread!

We have a three car garage with the third (shorter) stall filled with gardening/landscaping stuff, misc junk, a push mower, a riding mower, two snowblowers, and two big rolling garbage/recycling bins. There's not much room to move around over there. If I remember correctly, our 28 ft went in...

    Accessories and must-haves?

I'm not sure what ages you have hanging out in your pool, but I discovered with a pack of young teens, it's nice to have a "dry basket" - somewhere to put phones/iPods/valuables that no one touches unless they dry their hands first. It not only keeps the phones from getting water damage, but...

    New pool placement

Good plan! We needed a minimum of 5 ft, so the pool alone doesn't hit it. Ugh. My husband walks the rail to vac at opening and closing (lots of leaves), but we let the robot handle it the rest of the time. I'd fall in if I tried to do it his way. I have two VERY aggressive volleyball players...

    **Need Help Matching Bluestone coping!**

I love this! We have a bluestone patio with a lot of color variation. At first I was bummed that it wouldn't all be blue (more expensive in an already expensive patio redo we needed but didn't want 🙄 ), but I really do love it, especially when it's wet and the sun hits it. We have...

    New pool placement

Are you fencing all/most of it? Your dogs are going to be so happy! I'm sure you know this, but double check city requirements. Our four foot fence didn't meet code, and we ended up with a safety fence on our AGP. It's nice, because balls don't fly out of the pool, but was just one more expense...

Any vendors with in stock pools?

Yes, here too! We left our solar cover in a pile next to the pool for about a couple weeks, and when we pulled it out yesterday to rinse and put it back on, found a big hole. No big deal, it made it through 2 seasons, was too big for the pool, and is super hard to handle - I'll just order a new...

    Robot dimensions/Storage

We use that storage unit for our S50. It's deep enough to have it on a block with the one track against the back wall and the other against the doors, with the cord loosely coiled behind it. The shelf above it holds the power supply and baskets with goggles and small toys, and the top is good...

Our cover is still on too, but today there isn't a layer of ice on it, so I guess that's something? We'll all get there eventually (hopefully sooner rather than later?). (y)

What I see out my back door just past the pool

Fun! With all the yard fences around here, we rarely see deer in the back. They do wander through the street out front on occasion though. Coyotes are more common here. We have a cemetery behind us - very quiet neighbors. ;)
