Hard plumbing - psi & vacuum hose diameter

I just found this post on another thread (making me think the diameter of my hose --1 1/4" -- is too small for the suction of the pump): Thoughts? Today, 02:05 PM Back To Top #6 Zrock -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Join Date:Jun...

Hard plumbing - psi & vacuum hose diameter

Thanks for the response. We did not change the pump. We changed the skimmer, the sand in the filter and hard wired the plumbing. The suction is MUCH stronger with the hard plumbing. I was wondering if the suction was too strong for the 1 1/4" diameter hose. When vacuuming, the vacuum head...

Hard plumbing - psi & vacuum hose diameter

We just hard plumbed our above ground pool. The pressure/ suction is much higher now. The pump used to run between 5-10 psi. Now it is running closer to 15 psi. Is this normal/okay? When I vacuum the pool with our 1 1/4” diameter vacuum hose, it doesn’t seem to be pulling as well as I think...

Thank you for the quick reply! I went to the Teddy Bear Pools website and submitted my question.

    Liner Lock

We had to have our liner replaced after approximately 7 years because a tree fell on our pool. At the time the liner was still in good shape and would not have needed replacing had it not been for the tree falling on it. The second liner we had installed started coming down after 2 years. I...

Replacing liner in AGP. Should we add a main center drain?

The main drain would not be on the pool wall. The main drain would be in the center bottom of the pool.

Replacing liner in AGP. Should we add a main center drain?

We just had someone come out and give us an estimate to replace our liner. He recommended adding a main center drain. We had not previously considered this. Do others on the forum have main center drains in you AGPs? What are your thoughts? He also recommended replacing our old skimmer with...

how does debris get in the pump filter

We have a sand filter. We back wash 2-3 times each summer. We replaced the sand about three years ago. It looked like we probably didn’t need to replace it.

how does debris get in the pump filter

Hi engrave, I have the asked your questions 1) an 3) you listed under “By the way” and am interested in the answers as well. As for 2): We use them all the time and have done so for about 11 years. 4) We reuse our socks until they get a hole in them. We have had socks in the past that would...

Seal Skimmer for winter (best method?)

I think this is the RovaSeal product. I think this is what I'm going to try just because I couldn't find any other options. When I looked for reviews, there weren't very many and about half of them said it leaked or failed. I know the Aquadoor product works because we have used it for several...

Seal Skimmer for winter (best method?)

Each year when we winterize our pool, we change out the skimmer faceplate and put the Aquaseal lid on it. Changing the skimmer faceplate is a pretty arduous task (and cannot be done by one person) to do with water in the pool and draining the water would defeat the purpose. I have looked on...

    vacation and chlorine tablet use

I am a newbie and just converted from Baquacil to the BBB method in May (and loving it!!!). I had just gotten my CYA level up to 30 right before we left on vacation. We weren't sure how long we were going to be gone (a week at the most). Before we left I put enough Clorox in the pool to get...

I'm wondering if I might be using the calculator incorrectly. When I tested last night and the pH was 6.8, I put 6.8 with a goal of 7.4 into the calculator. It then calculated to add 239 oz. of borax -- which would be 3.14 of the 76 oz boxes. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Okay - I think our conversion if officially complete. I have some questions regarding chemicals and timing between adding and retesting. I bought the liquid CYA at a pool store. I only added one gallon, waited 24 hours and tested. The CYA is still at zero. I thought with the liquid CYA...

first am check of water: FC = 14 CC = 0.5 I read on another post that the conversion is complete when: 1) you lose less than 1 ppm FC overnight 2) your CCs are less than 0.5 ppm 3) your water sparkles. We have met these three criteria  We will test again tonight, change sand Friday...

-- just tested the water: FC = 15 CC = .5 I am so excited that the results are where they should be. I will test again first thing in the morning - then repeat tomorrow night. If all results are good, I will proceed with adding CYA and changing the sand. Thanks to eveyone on this website!!!

The pool is looking so good!!! The water is so clear!!! We are planning on performing the overnight FC Loss test tonight. If we pass in the morning, we will be adding CYA tomorrow or maybe Thursday. I haven't made it to the pool store to buy the CYA yet. I am thinking we'll get the liquid...

Now that the water is clear enough to see the bottom. We can see that there is "yucky stuff" on the bottom. It kind of looks like the algae we used to get on the bottom; but not as orange (more brown). Is this from the conversion? I'm thinking it's not safe to get in the water??? If...

-- Thanks for the words of encouragement from everybody! I think the water is about the same color as it was around 8am this morning; but it does look a bit clearer. You can actually see the bottom - not sure if you can tell this from the attached pictures. FC = 1.5. I will be adding 4 jugs of...

Attached are pictures from this morning. The water is looking more blue than green. FC = 2.5 According the caculator we are to add 596 oz (approx 3.2 jugs). It looks like it's going to be a sunny day so we are going to go ahead and add four jugs.
