Pentair support let me know that this bypass loop would be absolutely required for any warranty claims I might have in the future. The filter is that far away to accommodate the bypass. No room for it going straight back to the wall.

Great suggestion! From your post I just realized, after 11 years now, that the inflow and outflow are actually threaded on my WhisperFlo. Do you have a link to a pump union handy? I did a qucik search and did not find anything obvious.

Does this look like it might be a shaft seal leak? I was looking at the WhisperFlow manual and the replacement of all the o-rings, gaskets looks like it is do-able. Any gotchas? Are the parts fairly easy to get?

I needed to replace a fitting on a Jandy 3-way valve. Didn't want to replace and re-plumb the entire valve so I decided to try the Ram Bit. This bit removed the plastic pipe from inside the Jandy valve leaving fairly clean & ready for another pipe to be glued in place. Bottom line - good...

I tried do the same and create a bypass for the IC40 but was defeated by the proprietary threads. I ended up buying the pricey Pentair 520588 Dummy Bypass Cell.
