    Replacement IC-60

I need to replace my IC-40, so I was going to put in an IC-60. When googling, I keep coming across a generic version made by 'splash'. Any feedback from anyone on using that unit? Does it still just plug into my pentair intellichlor power center? Any suggestions on where to buy these cells at a...

    Robot during SLAM

There's been a bit of a heat wave in southern Ontario and my pool got away from me. Noticed some green sediment on the bottom. About to start a slam, but the dolphin has been sitting in there for a couple days. I see lots of threads about whether it's helpful to run the robot, but that not my...

SLAM completion criteria - can't shake the CC

Oh, yeah, if I test at noon today it will be 0. I guess I always figured it needed to be during the OCLT (although not sure where I got thst idea). I'll maintain and then test again. this afternoon.

SLAM completion criteria - can't shake the CC

First off, applogies for not posting a full set of results. I'm waiting for my R0013 to arrive and I haven't been testing PH during SLAM. FC 11.5 CC 1 CYA ~30 (as measured before starting slam) CH 225 TA 60 Ph 7.3 (pre slam) I've been in a slam for several days upon opening. I just did an...

Does anybody connect their pool equipment to outlets directly on house?

That doesn't say it needs to be 6 to 10 ft away! It says it cannot be CLOSER to the pool than 10ft (or 6 if the conditions are met). Having a plug 11ft away is MORE than 10ft away, so that doesn't really apply here.

Pool slide location for SR Smith Typhoon

My pool is laid out much like yours. I'd 100% put it in spot 1, if for no other reason than you can walk around it. I mean yeah you could put patio stones to go around it, but how awful is that going to look?

Pool slide location for SR Smith Typhoon

I think you'll find that slide is not installed according to the manufacturer specifications. If someone was to get hurt, you're going to have a hard time with insurance with an improperly installed slide.

    Sand at the bottom :(

Collect a sample of the particulate and put it on a paper towel to dry. Once it is dry, it will be pretty obvious whether it's dead algea, sand, or just dirt blowing in.

    CC really high

Can you guys not just buy jugs/carboys of liquid Chlorine from a local pool store? My local place has 12% and it is way cheaper than buying bleach at the hardware store.

Thabks PoolGuy! Sorry if this is dumb, but can you help me understand what this means?

First time replacing liner. What questions do I ask

Thanks for the reply Zea3 and Dave. Dave, your list is basically what I was looking for. I believe they do come out and measure, I think it's just to get an estimate since they can't come measure until the temperature is above freezing and what not.

First time replacing liner. What questions do I ask

Hi All. Last year, I struggled to find a leak in my pool. I had one hole patch, but was assured there were no more leaks. Well, my pool has been closed for 3 months, and it's almost empty. The liner is at end of life, so I'm just gonna replace it in the spring. I've never had to buy a liner...

UV / ozone sanitation... did I get bamboozled?

Bamboozled? In a word, yes. Sorry to say it. I highly doubt the UV is consuming your FC. But obviously something is. You'll need to post a full set of test results including CYA. You could perform a OCLT of you like to confirm something is consuming your FC.

    what kind of winter cover?

Yeah, that's definitely how it is supposed to be. I think what the other poster is referring to is the tarp water, which is nasty, and sometimes, some of it can accidentally get mixed into the pool (lead, tarp failure, user error or mistake opening).

    what kind of winter cover?

Have you seen the price of dirt lately. Not to mention bulldozer rental.

    Volleyball net "arm"

If the bungee cord works awesome, but I'm guessing you probably just have the wrong kind of wedge lock in there. There are different sizes/styles/manufacturers. You shouldn't need a drill (in fact, that seems like a bad idea), you should be able to tighten it by hand with a wrench.

    what kind of winter cover?

It would be very helpful if you could elaborate on this point, as it seems to be your major hangup. So what's the actual concern here? Aesthetics? Stepping in them, affecting the integrity of the deck? Before you decide you need to think about WHY you are hesitant, if you tell us that, we...

Light Junction Box with an outlet?

Not necessarily. Unfortunately OP there's not enough to go on. I'm not sure what you mean by junction box outlet combination. A junction box is just where two wires connect without a device (outlet). Does the power to the junction box get switched on and off with the lights? Do you have a...

    Cover-pools cover install: problems?

If the gap is 3" on one side and 1/2" on the other, if you centered it, then it would be 1 3/4" on each side, which is not unreasonable for expansion, depending on the length. It would also mean of your 5" glider you have 3 1/4" of 'bite' which resolves your concern of there being more gap than...

Lost 3 inches of water overnight. You will never guess the culprit.

Im kinda disappointed, I totally guessed plumbing leak. I thought from the click-bait title that it would have been something more exotic. :D

Best combination of heating my pool up (dead horse question, sorry)

Solar covers work by preventing evaporation. They don't cause heat gain, they only prevent heat loss. The heat gain is cause by temp and sunlight. The heat loss that they prevent is cause by evaporation, which has much to do with wind speed and direction, combined with temperature and...

Nice work! Just curious, do you take any steps to winterizing it? Maybe cleaning it every end of season is enough?

Trying Not to Electrocute Myself :) - Tapping a subpanel for a Maytronics m400

So yeah, that box is currently a junction box, which is odd. But if you want to make it a sub panel you can, but it can be both. If you add a breaker for your outlet, you should add a breaker for your pool equipment. (I'm going to assume that you've already verified the breaker inside and the...

    Chlorinator cleaning - need suggestions

I won't give you advice on switching to the TFP method since you've already declined it, but just thought I'd throw out, for what it's worth, if you're shocking weekly and using tabs, what is your CYA like, maybe thats contributory to your challenges of low CL? I mean the clogged screen...

    WiFi control

Dude. I was not talking about your set up! I was talking about an switch like the OP mentioned. You have a locally hosted system, which you connect DIRECTLY to and ALSO have a relay to the that let's you connect via the internet. But I can GUARANTEE YOU that if your internet goes out, you can't...

    WiFi control

Hi scowman, your screen logic is NOT a wifi switch. OP was originally asking about Wi-Fi switches. Your easytouch system is locally hosted and not internet dependent.

    WiFi control

My two cents... I didn't want to use a wifi switch, because if your internet goes out, or there's a server issue, you loose (remote) control of your pump. I didn't have the money to spend on an easy touch system, so I went with a Zwave controlled solution. I started with an Intermatic CA3750...
