    Digital Water Tester

I saw your review on Mr Poolman. Pricing here in Australia sucks. Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

Thanks Steve, for the very comprehensive write-up. Yes, I will ditch the digital tester which Mr Poolman sold me. Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

Seems like the one I need to try, so thanks for that. I think I was conned perhaps. Here is a link to a pool tester that came with the Aldi version of the digital pool tester. Pool Set Pty Ltd Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

So, can I ask what the differences are? Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

Here I am again, not realizing there is a smart and speed stir. I think I need the smart stir for very obvious reasons which are becoming more and more apparent. Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

Have always been interested in a smart stir, but have never followed up with one. Which brand does everyone use? That is one of the issues I have with drop tests is dropping, shaking and counting, while also trying to see a change in colour etc Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

A very big rabbit hole indeed, I had no idea, to say the least haha. Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

How so does the Taylor comparator differ from the CCL, I may have to invest in one. Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

I think I just understood some of that. :) Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

Yes, Apera is a lot more of a pro setup than what I seem to have. I got minimal instructions and certainly no mention of keeping the probes moist with my brand. Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

I'm getting that idea. No solution to keep mine in. I wash it off with distilled water and airdry it. But I do check the calibration on it frequently. Seems like a plan. I was looking at your brand of tester. Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

Yes, I'm starting to get that feeling. :) I'm hearing you, and have come to the sudden realisation that I may not have made the best of choices in buying it. Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

Oh, I was not aware of that. Yes, I had toyed with that idea, but I need to rely on other people's help for doing the readings, but hey yeah I will give it another try, so thanks for that. Cheers, John

    Digital Water Tester

Hi, Thanks that was very quick. This is the model I have, but currently, they are out of stock, as they are pushing another tester which is quadruple the price. It came with minimal instructions and was mainly for calibration etc...

    Digital Water Tester

Hi, I have recently acquired a digital pool tester, mainly for the results for pH as I'm so colour-challenged, and also for salt readings. The tester also gives results for ORP, TDS, and temperature levels. While I know what my test reading results should be for a balanced pool using this...

Advice on Testing for the Colorblind

Thanks for that information, there are certainly lots of toys to look at there that's for sure. I have just received my Clear Choice Labs test kit, but as usual, have had to ask someone else to check the results for me. So I will be looking at the pH tester you have recommended. Cheers, John

Advice on Testing for the Colorblind

Hi, Do you mind me asking which electronic pH-meter you are using? I ask because I see you're Melbourne based (I'm in Adelaide). I to am colourblind and have a terrible time telling the difference in colours. Cheers, John

    Confused (again)

No pool cover this season at all. Yes, it's the ph I have issues with the most. Cheers, John

    Confused (again)

Hi, Sorry Aussie I meant to reply to you and then promptly forgot. Yes, I hear you about being ripped off, and next summer I propose to start testing it again myself, although I do have issues with that as I'm colour blind, so will be involving someone else to do the colour comparisons for me...

    Confused (again)

Hi James thanks for the reply. On my previous test last week my TA was reading 55 and was advised to add some PH buffer and then some acid. Well my TA rose by 2 points but my PH dropped by .4 after the acid. I agree I do need to get a decent test kit for myself and will be on my shopping list...

    Confused (again)

Hi, These are my latest test results, and I'm worried (and confused) about my CC level and my CSI. My water is tested at my local pool shop using the "WaterlinkSpin Touch" I need to slam the pool but I'm having trouble (my maths) with how much chlorine I should be adding to achieve a decent CC...

digital readout testers vs colour charts

Thanks AUSpool for your response. Yeah being colourblind has had its challenges but in the overall scheme of things, I could think of far worse things to have to live with. And yes these days I rely on the daughter to do my ph testing as she is now old enough to appreciate helping the old man...

    Pool Math

Thanks Allen for that tutorial, you have some good points I need to brush up on after that. As for stabilizer, I have not added any at all this season, so perhaps that's why I couldn't get the dot to disappear? Cheers, John

    Pool Math

Hi Allen, CYA is also one of the tests which have expired in my kit, but then again I have always struggled with that particular test as I don't ever seem to be able to get that black dot to disappear in the bottom of the test tube? Yes, I have been adding liquid chlorine once or twice a week...

digital readout testers vs colour charts

I'm currently using a "Blue Devil" kit. Is this similar to the Aussie Gold kit do you think? I'm planning on buying a complete kit from CCL, but have seen comments that they prefer the Aussie Gold for PH testing. My biggest issue which I have mentioned before elsewhere is that I'm colourblind...

    Pool Math

Hi, Thanks for that, I shall ignore the "traditional pool" setup. Yes have been using the webpage but also do have the app but was not aware of any differences between the two, so thanks for the heads up, I shall use the app more often. I have been looking for an excel spreadsheet to record my...

    Pool Math

Hi, I'm using the webpage atm, and have a NQ-100 test kit which is probably 12 months out of date, but it's hard to tell as there are no dates on the bottles, but I've had the kit for about 2 years or so. No not known for hard water, and the water temp currently is 26C. Cheers, John

    Pool Math

Hi, Just wondering what the different goal levels are between TroubleFreePool.com and Traditional Pool setup? Also, I have just taken my latest pool readings and am not sure what I should be trying to adjust first. I should also mention that I could not complete a couple of tests as my testers...

I have done something really STUPID I used a floc!

Hi Kim, No I am definately over clean clean cleaning my filter, so much so that I'm thinking about going back to a sand filter with whatever media are recommended for them these days? Yes I will top up the pool to the brim to replace the 10 or so inches I pumped out last month because it was...
