There will be a post - “The Pool Store told me the eclipse would cause an algae bloom so they sold me lots of algaecide …” - mark my words !
Well. I mean. Yeah.

The phosphates always get a little wonky with the strange goings on of the universe.

Then BOOM. Eclipse = algae.

*if you ask the guy who has a whole store of chemicals to sell you anyway. He never learned chemistry and may even buck science. But he knows how to sell.

Not just wonky, those killer phosphates are dripping from the sun:

My grandson and I drove 3 1/2 hours for the roughly 2 minutes of totality - and in his words, it was 'totally awesome'. My smartphone did a pretty good job of capturing the moment - I have some buddies that are serious photo-snobs that captured some real beautys.

So, in 2017, drove to South Carolina, caught that totality, perfect weather, awesome. So this time, stayed at home, expecting 90%. Set up the 60 mm refractor I’ve had since 1960, 25 mm eyepiece projecting into a box with copy paper taped in it. Perfect view, saw a large sunspot. Looks great.
Then came the clouds, Sun came back out about a half hour after last contact. :sigh
On the lighter side, my chickens went to bed . . . Then got up.

Has anyone seen any quality pics from space of the shadow moving across the surface of the earth? Kind of like cloud shadows moving across the country side but next level.
