Total Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024 Monday.

Good luck. I was on a zoom with my team in NYC ~30 mins ago and they were all complaining that the clouds were rolling in. Hope they hold out for you.

We were supposed to get almost dark but it appears the line was off by a little. They did say many times that a few blocks difference could be night and day anywhere along the path.

So.

Have some eclipse sparkles instead

I've noticed there is an enormous difference between 98-99% totality and 100% totality. Back in 2017, we saw it at 98%. We thought that was good enough. It was not. The 100% totality was awesome. I'd love to see that again one day. It was literally like nighttime. At 98% totality it was just eerily dim, but that's all.

@setsailsoon you're a bit rusty and easily forgiven with all that time sans pool. You can't let the sample sit or it might go a little pink again. That one doesn't count. Just dump the sample and move onto another test.

I hope this helps.

The view from Terrell Tx. Clouds opened up for all 4 minutes of the eclipse. My brother captured a bunch of great images with his Celestron. This is the best one, it shows a LOT of very large solar flares.

Enjoy!

I just walked in from driving roundtrip from Jersey this morning up to Plattsburgh, NY. Trip up not bad, trip back we left about 3:45 and I just walked in to the house at 10:20pm. Honestly, it was worth it to see it. It was very very cool. To go from light to darkness and seeing stars and the temperature drop was amazing. Then the milisecond the sun wasn't completely covered daylight was back. That was crazy.
