    Fixed My Dolphin

I can't personally speak to the reliability of other brands besided Maytronics, but the forum activity here seems to indicate they all are prone to wearing out in 3-5 years. Maybe another brand has more readily available spare parts for DIYers willing to fix them on their own?

    Fixed My Dolphin

Hey All- I think I have successfully fixed my Dolphin S200 that stopped moving a couple weeks ago. The problem was wear on the spindles of some of the gears in the transmission attached to the drive motor. It got bad enough that the gears would get jammed when the robot transitioned from...

    What pool cleaner? Opinions Needed

That probably wouldn't help, but if I could find an equivalent motor, maybe 3D printing something to reconnect it to the old drive gear and bulkhead would work. More likely just some epoxy would work.

My SWG died after ~6 years, but it wasn't the cell that died- the power unit croaked, so they both needed replacing and I couldn't get the same form factor anymore, so I would've had to plumb in a new generator. I opted to go back to liquid chlorine and tablets. Their cost was less (this was...

Have you checked the price for a Warrior SE today? I paid $600 for my S200 5 years ago. That works out to about $30 a month for the 4 months a year I use it (which includes the extra year or two I got out of it by replacing the impeller bearings myself). Today that or equivalent models are...

    What pool cleaner? Opinions Needed

I can't wrap my head around this. What is wrong with the 98% of people willing to get fleeced?! We need them to take part in a boycott protest. The profit margins these companies are making must be crazy high. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some type of price collusion or...

I did read that review with interest, but without any longevity and repair data yet, I have no reason to believe it will last any longer than the Dolphin. It will be great if it does, but I'm skeptical.

I just found the ~30 page thread on your Dolphin experiences and read through the last few pages. Lots of good info there, including the downside of the electricity usage of the pressure side booster pumps which I had forgotten about! I think we have a similar mindset. I am pretty sure my...

My Dolphin S200 is failing. Again. It is 5 years old. I replaced the bearings in the impeller motor a year (or two?) ago myself with great success, but now the drive motor seems to have reached the end of its life and is seizing. Unfortunately, based on Internet searching and the forums...

    Sunlight, Slamming and CC

I passed the OCLT with .5ppm of chlorine loss and 0 CC last night, so I think that confirms the test tube contamination was the problem. Thank you for that suggestion! I am aware the trichlor adds CYA. I keep an eye on it. It was up at 80 at the end of last season when my SWG kicked the...

    Sunlight, Slamming and CC

This may be the culprit! I just soaked the test vial and pipette in bleach for a few minutes and rinsed them out- the test vial showed kind of a yellow discoloring after that, so I got out a scrub brush and scrubbed the inside of it out really well, rinsed it again and took my evening...

    Sunlight, Slamming and CC

Thanks for the suggestions. Other pretinent info- the pool was replastered last summer. The chlorinating ducks in the photo below are removed during the night when I am doing the OCLT. Here are some photos. The pool (with my test kit and 10ml pipette for accurate filling of the test tube)...
