This is the first year in a while that my pool has been green upon opening (usually brown). I was not involved in its closing last September so I am tempted to blame hubby (shhh!) I am in the process of SLAMming. (Hopefully this will go well and I will not be back with a question about this.)...

My real question involves possible air leaks and problems with self priming. I may ask those in a follow up. But for now... simply... is there supposed to be any visible (air) movement in the pump basket or should it be almost hard to even see that there is water in there in the first place...

I was asking about the valve to the bottom right of the heater in the picture. It closes the return from the skimmer and the main drain. Sorry, but I do not understand what you mean by the PUMPS in the back.
