Thanks to all who replied. I realized that although the VSF 011056 does not have the screw on cable retainer on the pump, the cable that came with it (350122) does, and cable 350122 is also sold as a replacement cable for the vs3050. Thus, I think the cable is the same. Have not yet plugged it...

My Pentair 011013 has died (corrosion). Does anyone know if the geometry on the latest version (011056) is identical? i.e., can I swap in the new pump without changes to the piping...?

Does he really have to drain? Surely he could simply put expanding plugs in all the returns, drains, etc in the pool (or perhaps only in those upstream of this pump....) I have used the Flexpvc internal fittings and agree one would probably offer a solution.

Checking water in the flow cell was a good call; PH was higher than that of the water about a foot below the surface of the pool that I tested initially (my return feeds from main drains at deepest part of pool). Interesting - I wonder if PH is always higher at the bottom... Anyway, flow cell...

I tested the pool. Will test the water in the cell, which does have pressure differential and flow. Power has been cycled but will recheck everything today. Thanks again.
