In Ground Spa with no Cover: blue solar blanket only

Another note: I've been trying a "liquid solar cover" as well. It's clear that it's helped in the pool, but it doesn't seem to have helped in the spa. The pool is very irregularly shaped, so it's too much hassle to get a solar cover cut and on it.

In Ground Spa with no Cover: blue solar blanket only

Ok. I'll get that solar blanket on today and see what happens. It's new, so I have to cut it. The problem with a traditional cover is the cost and where to store for a 10' diameter fiberglass shell. Options have been limited. Note: I'm also going to try adding borates (boric acid method) later...

In Ground Spa with no Cover: blue solar blanket only

It was freshly filled end of April. We don't keep it open in the winter and do a full drain when we close the pool; i.e. we treat it like a smaller and hotter pool.

In Ground Spa with no Cover: blue solar blanket only

So I've been monitoring this spa pretty closely: keeping temperature relatively low at 98F. CYA is at 40, but my chlorine keeps dropping to 0 from day to day. Currently, I haven't been putting the solar blanket on and it gets direct sunlight starting around 7:30am until late afternoon. All other...

Planning on adding Borates... Should I assume 0 to start?

Can do! Will start with the spa

Planning on adding Borates... Should I assume 0 to start?

For a number of reasons. My Spa is not covered and is pretty big (10ft diameter), so I'm adding bleach almost daily (I used the dichlor/bleach method) and the ph does rise faster than I'd like. I also like the idea of the "silkiness" for the hot tub.

Planning on adding Borates... Should I assume 0 to start?

Hi all, I'm now thinking about adding borates to my pool and spa. Should I assume 0 to start, or should I test with the strips first?

    Different types of muriatic acid

Thanks! FYI, 34.6 is in my poolmath, so they must have added it behind your back. ;)

    Different types of muriatic acid

Hi all! I see in the app there are several different options for muriatic acid. It got me thinking... why would I buy 1 over another? What's the difference? I get concentration is one aspect, but what is this 20o Baume (Old owner left me a bottle of 34.6% - 22o Baume). What about this stuff I...

In Ground Spa with no Cover: blue solar blanket only

Hi All, I'm wondering if there's any reason to use a higher ppm for chemicals like CYA or change anything with regards to the Sticky "How do I use Chlorine in my Spa?". The Spa is a 550 gallon, fiberglass, shell that's in-ground about 2/3; i.e. it sticks up a foot or 2 out of ground. It is...

Recommended levels from Hayward vs TFP

Hello experts, Hayward recommends the following for their Salt and Swim SWG: CYA: 30-50ppm TA: 80-120ppm However, on a SWG thread here (Water Balance for SWGs) TFP recommends: CYA: 70-80ppm TA: 60-80ppm Do you all suggest I stay within manufacturer's range or TFP's? TIA

Is there a way to change the recommended ranges?

Yeah, I'm a Cloud Data Engineer and exclamation points scare me. Lol I guess I'll turn off the warnings and make mental notes of where my levels should be. Thanks for the explanations!

Is there a way to change the recommended ranges?

Ok, that's what I saw, but that's not what you posted above :). The app shows 30-60 for cya, though according to the Sticky I would assume 20-something (it reads, to me, 20-30). The app shows 250-650 for CYA, and that's significant from 150. Again, not a huge issue... Would just be nice to be...

Is there a way to change the recommended ranges?

If you can't change it, that's fine. :) I want to mention, though, the numbers you posted are definitely different than what's mentioned in the sticky for Chlorine under Spas forum. It doesn't talk about surface in there, though.

Is there a way to change the recommended ranges?

I was wondering if there is a way to change the recommended ranges. Specifically, CH and CYA for a Chlorine/Bleach Hot Tub. The Sticky Thread for Chlorine Spa shows significantly lower levels than the app. I would like to keep the warnings on, but be able to adjust my ranges. TIA!
