    Winter water balancing new plaster

Was looking at a bunch of old TFP posts that recommended adding some MA with the sump pump running to try to keep the pH at 8.2 and at least measurable by TFP kit. I do have a solid cover. Adding acid all summer kept lowering my TA as well. I want to do whatever will give me the least chance of...

    Winter water balancing new plaster

Well if I’m totally screwed at this point, is it at least better to be on the scaling side of things? Can any scaling be removed?

    Winter water balancing new plaster

Not brushing for the finish, brushing to mix up the water and chemicals. Figured that and a 3200 GPH pump would mix things up enough. How do the ‘winter watch’ pool companies do it for pools that were plastered in the fall? Pool plasterer wanted my alkalinity between 80 and 120 hence adding the...

    Winter water balancing new plaster

Even with a large pump going and brushing? I really don’t want to mess up my finish

    Winter water balancing new plaster

I have no issue with adjusting the chemistry now before it freezes. Was trying to ride the line between TFP guidelines and the pool contractors instructions. Could this damage the finish?

    Winter water balancing new plaster

Thank you for the quick response! Do I need to make any adjustments to control pH or will this be ok left completely untouched until April?

    Winter water balancing new plaster

I renovated in April - diamond brite french grey plaster with new tile and coping. I closed about 5 weeks ago. I opened opposite ends of the cover yesterday and ran a 3200 GPH pump from the deep end to the shallow end using a 2” hose to circulate the water for about 6 hours in my 22000 gallon...

Pool Closing questions - new quartz plaster April 2023

Is it worth circulating the water with a sub pump throughout the winter? How often and for how long should I do it to mix any newly added chemicals in?

Pool Closing questions - new quartz plaster April 2023

Yeah, I’m not expecting an easy process if that happens, but I’ve got a huge stack of them from a small local pool store I trust. Every 1-2 days in the beginning of the summer after it was filled. They know me by name at this point lol. I saved them just in case, but honestly I’m doing all...

Pool Closing questions - new quartz plaster April 2023

Thank you! I’m trying to ride the line and satisfy both. I was previously following TFP in the past but TFP is not warrantying my new plaster so I’m stuck satisfying NPC for the next 5 years. Chlorine has been pretty constantly 3 ppm all summer long. I Let it burn off in the past week...

Pool Closing questions - new quartz plaster April 2023

This is my third year owning the pool and renovated it this spring. The pool is 23,000 gallons, diamondbrite French grey plaster, tile and ep Henry bull nose coping. I have a solid Anchor safety cover. I’m preparing to close the pool and have several concerns that I never worried about in years...
