Green Pool in OKC - Getting ready for Weekend Attack

5:30 Test
FC = 10
CC = 0

Done
Not testing again, that's good enough for me...

Now I get to let it fall to somewhere between 3 and 5 according to whatever my CYA is according to this: Pool School - Chlorine / CYA Chart. I will check on that later...

Thank you all for all your help, 187 posts later and I am done slamming my pool. I was telling some people at my work about this site, how much support you get, and super quick. I have learned so much about how to take care of the pool that I did not know last year, thanks to you guys and the resources on this site. One of the things about adding bleach to your pool is that it raises eyebrows, initially my wife, and several people at my work said, "I wouldn't be doing that!". with all these rains we have had, the county is offering free bacteria test kits for homeowners with wells, if you have bacteria, the solution? "pour bleach in your well"

Last year I just did the typical: Go to the pool store, and hear the "Oh, you must have X problem, here, take this quantum-clear-pro super-formulated-shock-chlor... its $5 a bag." "ok, i'll 2 bags", "sir, you better take 27 bags, you have a low Z count, compounded by the fact that your N rating is off the chart, in fact if I were you, I would grab that $200 case of hyper-green-kill-60, its $5 off this week."

I was in the pool store just last week, and I overheard another customer going through the same scenario I just described above, he sighs and says: "you guys never steered me wrong before" I almost said something to him but I did not catch him outside the store, and i thought, "Well, I do need the pool store to stay in business, for that one-off emergency o-ring I might need"

Ok, lots of blabbing at now 6:00, just very happy to be done with this. THANKS ALL FOR YOUR HELP :lovetfp:

YES! You did it!

Now go enjoy your pool!

What I do on a daily bases is add enough FC to bring my pool to the top of the needed level. I add mine in the evening so it can work during the night. That way during the day it does not go below the lowest level needed to keep a pool clear.

I turn my pump on, add my bleach, do my before bed routine, then go shut off my pump. In the beginning I had to set my timer to help me remember to shut it off. Now it has become a part of my routine. Building habits.

Great work!

Kim

How long do you run your pump? I was planning on running it 8 hrs over night.
