New Pool Owners with Chlorine Troubles!

So we got it up to a 10 last night around midnight and this morning at 7 am it was down to a 3.5 FC and a 1.5 CC. Starting the SLAM... added 5 gallons bleach at 12.5 % which is all we had left. Husband is off to the store to get more.

Looking good. Add what poolmath says to bring the leve, back to 31. Once the chlorine level starts holding better you can drop back to testing 2-3 times per day.

Homework, add your pool info to your signature as shown here.

Tested at 10 PM

CC = .5

Adding 1 gallon (128 oz) bleach at 12.5% and will restest at 5 am. We both have to work tomorrow so won't be able to test every couple of hours like we did the last two days. Hopefully we will have a high FC in the morning.

Perfect! Good job.

Retesting a half hour (or more) after your last addition (after sunset) is often missed and it's crucial. People can think they're done slamming, but they may not really be done if they overshot their FC target.

I would be interested to know where you thought it would be... But not tonight. You have an early rise ahead of you!

We were hoping to be completed by the end of the weekend but this is all such a learning experience for us and next year maybe we we will have a better handle on what to do from the beginning. Tested at 6 AM this morning.
FC = 29
CC = .5

The calculator says to add 63 oz but wondering if we should add more because we won't be home until about 4-5 pm tonight with both of us having to work. Supposed to be nice a sunny here today which the pool gets lots of sun. So should we add more than the 63 and test right before we leave?
