Hi All - I have started the process of gathering quotes and thus far have narrowed it down to 1 pool builder, pair of ex-cops. Below is everything they have detailed, if I can get some guidance on what is good vs what needs to be updated or is overkill, and simply paying a higher price for something not needed please let me know. Thanks.

Pool Perimeter =90
Pool Sq Ft =450
Gallons = 10,368
15x30
Salt Water - no Spa
Tanning Ledge with 2 bubblers

Pool construction:
- Rebar structure is comprised of #4 rebar on 10" o.c. (Extra bars
in the floor and breaks) with a 4-bar beam and double wrapped
skimmer cavity.
- Pool shell is comprised of wet mix shotcrete. Minimum 4500 psi
and applied by certified personnel. We do not use dry mix gunite
due to its inconsistent application and inherent weaknesses.
Limited lifetime warranty on pool shell.
- All coping material is a minimum of 5cm in thickness.
- Main drain and skimmer lines are 2.5" SCH 40 PVC, return lines
are 1.5” and 2" SCH 40 PVC. All plumbing is run outside of the pool
shell to prevent compromising the rigidity of the pool shell.
Extra GFCI outlet at Pad

Pool Steel
Structural steel is #4 (1/2") rebar, 10" o.c. with a 12" x 12" 4 bar
beam.
Deck dowls are #3 (3/8") rebar.
Proper bonding with #8 bare copper wire and DB bonding clamps.

Tile - level 2 ceramic
Coping - Travertine
Plaster - Wet Edge pebble finish

The Crosswind has less then half the heating/cooling ability of the Jandy or Aquacal so it should cost less.

Inquire as to who does local service and warranty support for each of the units. You don’t want a unit that no one in your area services.

For AquaCal and Jandy there are 20+ servicers within a 30 mile radius. Thanks

If you are not getting automation I would get the Aquacal.
I am being told if i want to do a Salt pool I have to get automation for it to work more precisely, below is what is currently showing on the proposal.

IQ906-PS-PC-SWC Jandy Salt System
Jandy Aqualink® RS PS6 Pool and Spa Kit with PureLink Sub Panel, PLC1400 and iAqualinkJDY-30-1743 / IQ906-PS-PC-SWC

There is no requirement for an Aqualink system to have the Jandy Aquapure SWG system, or salt systems from other vendors.

I don’t know why your builder is giving you an Aqualink Pool & Spa bundle that includes two actuators when you don’t have a spa.

That said, if you are getting the Aqualink system then get the Jandy HP.

If you want to discuss your pool equipment more then give us a complete description of your pool and equipment.

Thanks i will create a new post. Aquacal has 2 year parts/labor and 7 year compressor vs Jandy 2 year parts/labor and 5 year compressor warranty, you would still lean towards Jandy HP? Thanks

Keep all the posts about your pool construction in this thread.

If you get the Aqualink then get the Jandy HP. It ensures the HP will work best with the automation controls. And you will have Jandy support for any interface problems.

You do not need the EPump model with 2 Aux relays when you get the Aqualink. You use the AUX relays on the Aqualink and not the pump.

You do not need the Aqualink pool/spa bundle if you don’t have a spa.

Unless Jandy has some special pricing where that stuff is less then the simpler equipment you need there are unnecessary costs for the pump with AUX relays and the pool/spa bundle.

With a VS pump, heater/chiller HP, and color changing lights the iAqualink app will make managing your pool much easier. Aqualink is not required but you will need to control the individual devices at the equipment pad without Aqualink.

Gotcha so for the automation on their website they have AQUALINK® TCX POOL ONLY AUTOMATION SYSTEM which can control Salt as well and is about 60% less, this would be sufficient?

If not the E-Pump which pump should i ask for, can you share a model or description so i can look it up? Thanks.

The TCX is a low end automation system that will not control your HP heater/chiller.

If they are an authorized Jandy dealer they can configure the Aqualink for your equipment. See…

Looks like the EPump only comes with relays…

Jandy has FloPro pumps without relays. I don’t know their pricing to say what would be the best deal…

What are the depths?

Have you thought about relocating the sun shelf to create a swim lane on the long axis of the pool?
its 3.5 to 5ft

Do you mean like having a kick-out for the sun shelf? if so yes but it added too much to cost.

i now understand what you are saying, thanks.

Maybe i am confused but i thought the RS Pool and Spa was overkill considering i did not have a spa so the model they have quoted i should keep? and only change the pump out?
Jandy has pool only version of the Aqualink at less cost. And the pool/spa bundle they quoted includes two actuators you don’t need unless they are keeping them and giving you credit for them.

Sorry i just realized i forgot to mention i have 2 bubblers on the tanning ledge does that change anything from the pump or automation aspect? Thanks

One of the actuators in the bundle can be used to automatically control the bubblers.

Another reason for the Aqualink and not the TCX unit.
