Intellichlor installation

Post pics of your equipment pad so we can see where you are installing it.

jh,

Are you installing the IntelliChlor as a standalone SWCG, or will it be connected to some pool automation system?

What kind of pump do you have?

The cell comes with a full size layout drawing that you use to mark where to cut the pipe.

Wiring will depend on your pump, and what currently turns it on and off.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you AJ and Jim

The 90s leading into this pipe may need to be angled up to make space for the cell to be above the ground.

Or do vertical install as shown in Installation Manual.

Have you reviewed the IntelliChlor Installation Manual?

You might want to check Pentair warranties with authorized dealer install vs DIY.
I installed my IC40 in April, 2021 and it hasn't been work since I first tried this April, 2023. I replaced the flow switch and when that didn't work, I called Pentair and was told the cell was bad but was not covered under warranty because I installed it myself. They stated the self installed warranty is 60 days, and installation by a pool professional is 2 years.
Interestingly, a couple of weeks later, I looked up warranties on their website and the IntelliChlor SWGs state that the warranty is 2 years and does not require professional installation.
I am still dealing with them to get an answer. Every time I call, I am on hold for the warranty department for over an hour and have had to hang up to take care of something else.
As simple as the IC40 is to install, I may have to hire someone to install next time.

Sharp,

Not quite true.. The original system has to be installed by a "professional" and then the replacement cell can be installed by the home owner..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you for showing me where to cut. I have an Easy Touch Pentaire control panel below. Can you teach me step by step how to install / wire IC-60 and power supply (I have to purchase this separately correct?)

Yes, you need to use the IntelliChlor Power Center.

The Power Center will connect to the LOAD screws of your Filer Pump Relay.

And the Power Center will have a RS-485 connection to one of your COMM blocks.

Post pics of your EasyTouch front panel open showing the high voltage wiring and a pic of the low voltage panel flipped open for more specific advice.

Thank you she,

Here are the pictures. If you could point to exactly where my LOAD screws are for filter pump relay, I would truly appreciate it. Also do I have to purchase these on my own below? The products didn’t come with any extra cables or wiring. Thank you so much in advance.

1. 12-14 AWG three conductor cable for Intellichlor Power Center

2. 22 AWG four conductor cable for RS-485?

Ajw,
Also if you could help me locate where one of the COMM blocks are to connect the RS-485 wires, I’d appreciate it

It is not obvious which is your filter pump relay or which screws are the load screws. It looks like whoever wired that did it in a bit of a non-standard manner. It will take some poking around with the wiring to figure out how that panel is wired up.

I suggest you read the Installation Manuals and get familiar with what you will be doing.

Wiring the Power Center needs to be done to code using liquidtite conduits for the wires. That is all familiar to electricians. If you don't want to learn how to be an electrician I suggest you hire one to do this.

I think the wiring is standard-ish but a mess. Do you have a multimeter?
It looks like the blue wires coming from the filter pump breaker loop down and get pigtailed/wire nutted with a set of yellow wires that drops down to the front second knockout from the right and a set of red wires that go up to relay 1 screws 1 and 3.
Test relay 1, screw 1 and 3, should read ~240v. Shutoff the gfci pump breaker and that should go to zero. If so, then test screws 2 and 4, with the pump circuit off they should read zero, with the pump circuit on they should read ~240v. Assuming so relay 1, screw 2 and 4 are your filter pump circuit load screws where you will wire the swg.

Looking closer I'm reasonably certain that the above is correct. The 2 blue wires on the load screws go to the mastertemp (back row 2nd conduit from the left) and the 2 yellow wires go to the intelliflo2 pump.
You'll need:
liquid tite conduit
Thwn wire (~20ft black or red and ~10ft green)
~10ft sprinkler wire for the rs485 connection
And while you're at it , a gfci breaker for the single speaker pump and blower

Ahultin,

Thank you so much for the required shopping list. I have Yellow/White power wires from Power Center. Does it matter which color goes to load 1 or 2 (see image?)

Also sorry for the dumb question. Where do I connect the ground wire from the Power Center on the Easy Touch panel?
