Just verified rpm’s. 30% is 1035 rpm, 50% is 1725 rpm’s (what it normally runs at) and 100% is 3450 rpm’s.
Failing Aqua Rite T-9 Cell?

EcoStar VSP, TriStar VSP, TriStar single-speed. I've installed at least 100 over the years they have been out. My experience is that the pot seldom fills completely with water most of the time. It was a concern when I first started using them, but no more. I don't believe mine has completely filled more than a few times, and never at lower speed and I never could figure how it did it. I do not have a suction leak, its just the nature of the pump.
If you look at the inlet to the pot on a TriStar and virtually every other pump on the market you will see that it is considerably farther below the top of the pot. That might explain it. That means the suction at the eye of the pump is lower than the air pocket that might be there and it just won't go away.
When they first came out 20+ years ago, the Jacuzzi Magnum was a similar configuration and they actually advertised that the "bubble" in the pot was evidence of less turbulence and therefore their pump was better. Turned out the pump wasn't that good in the long run. They got so many complaints that they started putting a short piece of vinyl tubing attached to the basket that would extend from the eye to the top of the lid to help suck out the air. It worked. The factory rep gave me a few baskets to replace the ones I had installed if there were complaints. The pump was less expensive and sometimes people would go for the best price, not quality. Probably only installed 5 or 6. Despite what you may see at Leslie's, Jacuzzi is no more, they are rebranded Hayward TriStar VSP.

Yes, thank you and I’d love to hear your thoughts @1poolman1 on the whine. Figure replacement is around the corner. How long are Ecostar pumps expected to last?
Easiest for me would be to just replace it with the same pump but if that is a bad idea I will start researching pumps I suppose.
As far as the salt cell goes, sounds like the T-9 would literally be plug and play but the T-15 would require me to go into the Omnilogic settings also and change it to a T-15 (which I could do if I feel comfortable after fully watching the video links provided previosuly - just hate to screw something up, lol).
If there is nothing stuck in the fan, which is what it sounds like from the way it stopped (just listened to the video), it's probably bearings.

First check for something stuck in the fan. My EcoStar is going on 14 years, a good life for a pump today. The drop-in replacement that is compatible with your OmniLogic is the W3SP3206VSP. It is actually the same pump you have now with a newer drive and motor.
Yes, that is the Jacuzzi Magnum or Magnum Force pump with a new name. They moved a lot of water, but repairs were difficult. Apparently, Leslie's bought the Jacuzzi name as it is well known. Great information. I founds some disassembly instructions for the EcoStar (http://www.haywardnet.com/pdfs/EcoStar-Technical-Guide.pdf) but I’m not sure I am savvy enough to get to the fan To see if something is stuck. I may have to rely on the honestly of a pump repair person to find this out. I would love for it to be just something stuck in the fan.
@1poolman1 do you think there is a better way to take the video to help you diagnosis it. For example, from off to a certain percentage, then off again?
Fan is external, on the back of the pump. Remove the pump cover you have (blue and white) and you will see a shroud over it that is held on with a few screws.
The vast majority of EcoStar failures was due to a bad drive, not a mechanical issue. Hayward realized this and would replace the drive on pumps that were out warranty by a year or two, I did several for customers that I had done an install. I thinks that is why they changed the name back to TriStar, just to distance themselves from the EcoStar.
OK. Will do tomorrow as it just got dark here in hot as heck Tampa, Florida. I did take another video just before it got dark turning the pump on, then to Eskimo, then to high, then back to medium, then low, then medium and then off -

I am amazed you live with that noise every day! I cannot hear our pump at all. Have to go right up to it to hear it.
Honestly, I am too now, lol. It runs mostly when I am at work all week but I am surprised it didn't bother me (or my neighbors) more on the weekends. It's a sound I cannot unhear now so hopefully it's the fan or something fixable because wow those motors are not cheap (compared to what I think they were in 2016).
Will be looking at the fan tonight after work with fingers crossed.
Regarding this particular seller, I noticed it says “This is a genuine cell with a 1 year Hayward warranty” but other sites suggest there may be a 3 year warranty. For example, Hayward’s warranty page seems to suggest a 3 year warranty if bought from authorized sellers - see below.

W3T-CELL-15 is the new model number but the 3 in the model number does not mean warranty.
The serial number has to start with a 3 for a 3 year warranty.
