Owner Build all Tile pool: Initial layout and plans

Frank can get them along with all the other tile.. he is working on a quote for me now... The tile may be the first thing I buy.. It may take some time to get it because of all the COVID and shipping craziness going on...

Its getting real now :)

Has anyone used wallandtile for coping, seems like they have some good coping and decent prices.. If anyone knows a better place in Oklahoma or Texas that would be great :)

Looking at these coping now.. 200 sq ft of coping or 130 linear feet with 10% to 15% = 145

I really like this one but its spensive....

I guess the question really comes down to this:

What is a good price for coping? is 13 dollars a square foot good or a great price? Is the white coping a good price because it is a better coping? I have no idea... Do we have someone who knows these things?

If I can purchase this coping at 13 dollars a sq ft and pick it up in Texas it is only about 2600 with tax, shipping adds between 1000 and 2500 depending on where it is coming from...

Looks like I am going with 1x1 Marble blue tiles instead of the 2 inch.. They only have 4 pallets coming in to the states for the year of the 2 inch and wont arrive till July or so.. They have the 1x1 in stock :)

Frank says the 1x1 are way easier to work with and wont show as much if the line is off a little.. YAY...

Right now I am debating but I think just a light grey grout.. Most likely on site mixed 3 parts portland cement with 1 part sand and 15 parts water to 1 part ANTI HYDRO mix... should make a waterproof mortar grout.. This will be old school but the old school tile pools still look great, all the "new" stuff is what is falling apart...

I am going to do a freeze thaw test with the tile I have now and see what grout makes the cut... :)

Just talked with my nephew about "the plan" Looks like we will start digging in July sometime and go from there...

All 10 of my Jandy valves and the 2 skimmers just shipped from Polytec pools, only place I found to have everything (found them on the forum also SCORE) Welcome to Polytec Pools

I am in the process of buying the Tile from Frank and Fujiwa, Not cheap but WAY cheaper than buying it online, like over 2 dollars cheaper :)

Getting the PEB 111

2 boxes of PEB 102 for the step tiles, way easier to do :)

I have another question for everyone..

What is a good coping.. I thought Travertine coping was good stuff, but I have been reading and some people are sealing them and they get chipped.. Is this a thing? I will not be sealing anything, it has to stand up to normal use and abuse and salt water...

@jimmythegreek What types of coping do you recommend or would go with?

I mainly do precast coping amd paver decks. If customer wants anything else I exclude deck and sub it. I'm in freeze country so cant use just anything here. What look are you going for? Got a style in mind or any wish pics? That's where I usually start things. I often get a pic of the Bellagio hotel pools and then I get informed of the 60k overall budget 🤣

I am looking for indestructible and little to no maintenance white to off white/ light tan stone or precast... We are also in freeze thaw area and can get very cold here, -17 degrees for a couple weeks this winter, normal temps in the low 10 to 30 degrees at night.. I always winterize the pool from Nov to beginning of Mar..

I am doing poured concrete for deck and debating on doing a stamped concrete or just a salt finish..

Is there a local place you get the precast stones, I can not find anyone in Oklahoma City and I find that amazing, my google fu is usually really good but not for this stuff... We have a mastertile and NPT in the city but I am not allowed to buy from them as a peasant :)

This one I really like the rock face coping and I am almost 100% sure it is precast stone... Trying to find it locally is the hard part... (not doing pavers)

The stone places by me have not kept up with the times. Whenever I go for gravel or topsoil I chuckle at the old skool green screen computer and receipt on dot matrix printer paper.

Their websites if they exist at all leave a lot to be desired but I guess they primarily sell in bulk to builders and not the customers googling everything.
